Hello,
I've finally found myself able to run 30 minutes without stopping, so I've been wondering what kind of training to go onto now?
Any suggestions?
Also- - what is fartlek?!
Thanks
AJA

Hi AJA
How long have you been running?
How long have you been running for 30 minutes non stop?
How many times a week do you run?
If you are a beginner I would suggest that the next step is to start increasing one/some of your runs to up the lenght of time you run for (endurance)
I am only running 9 1/2 months but the advice I got on starting was to build a good solid base of endurance for at least 6 mths before worrying about speed work.
Introducing speed too quickly into your running is a sure way to pick up injuries. Enjoy your running at this stage and the health benifits it brings.
Increase your runs slowly in small increments waiting for up to a month to make sure your body is happy with the increase before stepping up again. Increases of not more that 10% at a time are the normal advice.
Above all learn to listen to your body. It will let you know when it is ready for the next increment or if you are pushing too hard.
take it steady and the rewards will be great.
Happy running :)
