Although I've not been posting (work has been inceredibly busy lately and all appraisals are supposed to be in to HR at the end of this week, so every spare minute has been spent prepping for, carrying out, or writing up appraisals for my team and I've struggled to even find 5 mins to drop in.
Been a really good week of running for me though, bit of a mixture, which has included 43mins worth of 3minute Intervals, some easy running and today 11miles in total, 8 easy then 3 at pace (7.00m/m). This has helped me make my mind up about how I'm going to approach Reading though - My fitness has taken a bit of a a positive step change over the last month where I've been a lot more disciplined with doing quality sessions and I couldn't help but think that I might (just might) have a
Ooh, and in other news, Mrs King has now completed 5 of her 6 weeks womens begineer running course with the Downham Dollies and is hooked!
I'm having to share the Garmin being the only downside!
PSC - belated congratulations on your joint podium position last w/end. I don't think I've ever won anything; the closest I came was 4th in a field of about 30 in the X-country leg of a local 'Superstars' competition back in the early '80s. Brian Hooper was there to present the prizes but he only agreed to do it if his training partner could take part. Needless to say, he presented the winner's trophy to his mate!
MC - hope you recover from your cold and get some good news from the MRI. My son had his MRI (for a similar injury to yours) back in early January. He has an appointment at the Trauma and Orthotics clinic in Nottingham tomorrow when he'll be told the prognosis and advised on what sort of treatment he needs.
Out this morning for a run round the MOD land. Not much to report apart from some distant gunfire and loads of empty ration packets lying around for Rusty to sample!
Went out on the bike last night and made the mistake of not wearing gloves. I really thought I had frostbite when I got home. One of my fingers was completely numb and took about 30 minutes to thaw out. I thought I'd have to saw it off in the garden shed!Slightly worried that I can't get into my small chainring which should be interesting when I have to climb Box Hill three times at the Ballbuster on Saturday!
4M Tempo run. Not bad, bit of a blow out .Dry, no wind or fog.
Chris: Superstars I loved that programme back in late 70s/early 80s.
NW: 1 owl, 1 Gritting Lorry, 1 Kingsmill Van, 1Morrisons Van, 4 horses,
Morning all - no weather in the utility room this morning for my weights session. Hope the weather improves for you on Saturday Chris. it's Friday!
CBA this morning... too grey and drizzly out there and off to London in a bit. Might go out later.
Good luck at Box Chris. Some other mates of mine from work are going to be there too, and I dare say one or two pirates will make an appearance. It's a cracking race, but you already know that!
Good morning all
Rest day today.
It seems my posts on here yesterday have upset a couple of people elsewhere on the forum. They have got it some how in to their heads that yesterday I was proclaiming to be a ultra expert and advising about running ultras (LMAO) Apologises to anyone on here that if that was the impression I gave ( lol no matter how many times I read it can't see it)
They also point out that I have only one ultra booked ,missing the fact I cancelled two year due to calf strain and a spontaneous pneumothorax screwing up my training for the most of last year. ( missed their rule book on what I must enter and how many by when. Sorry to take the mood down just wanted to get that off my chest and out there to correct their bad interpretation of my posts.
Chris , good luck for the weekend
Morning all, weather similar in my Garage Kate I think for a 5 miles at recovery pace. New box set to watch, 24. So 1st episode down of series 1, is it 6 in total, now that would be an Ultra Valis to watch the whole lot and set a record in my garage! Some threads it is easy to upset people.
Chris, shit that's drastic, step away from the chainsaw. Enjoy Box Hill, never been there but seems like legendary place.
Enjoy the weekend all
Valis - I just re-read your posts, I found them most informative and honest - not sure how people could be offended by them? To be honest I was impressed with the list of races you guys sign up for. I won't add my name to the list, it would look a little sad:
London - Marathon
Chris - bad times with the chain saw!!!
Thanks fookety fook it's Friday hey?
valis - can't understand how anyone could be upset by your posts on here - I just looked back and can't figure it out either. I notice they didn't post onto this thread to say they were upset!
starting to feel a bit better here, my OH says I look almost human, hopefully i will be ok for the masters swim tomorrow after an early night
dobster - not everyone on here enters races so don't worry.
had the annoyance today of speaking to someone and saying something about running for him to tell me about his mum running the London marathon - as if that is the only reason someone would run
dobster: I race very rarely now. Infact Haleys Comet appears more often
valis: I can't for the life of me how your posts could upset anybody !
Valis.. that's wierd! Perhaps we should all refer to the forum rule book before commenting on here...is there one?
Thought I'd consolidate the race list...

Morning all! SOC at work again in the scary scooby doo building. Hoping ome of my team rock up and join me at some point!
Does everyone on here live down south? Just looking at the race destinations!
Am out for a 3 mile run later to test my calf, it's feeling better so fingers crossed. Physio monday aswell just to get it checked out incase anything major is wrong!!
Out training for Haleys Comet Marathon. Saw a cracking dawn, blues, reds and yellowsin Eastern sky.
Maths: Writers cramp for you with your efforts last night .
dobster - I live near Nottingham, I don't count it as down south, but depends where you are I guess! Birky is near Glasgow, so again, if you are in the Shetlands I guess that is south...
not convinced I should go swimming, head feeling a bit woozy so probably best not to, maybe I will try a nice walk outside, then it doesn't matter what pace I go at, if I am not up to fast I can just slow it down and enjoy a spring like morning and get some well needed fresh air
