Afternoon all - 5 miles for me this morning NW a squirrel DW a blackbird, then 2 hours on the spin bike, heading for a swim shortly. This is all very bad as I have a race tomorrow so am not expecting world record pace for 20 miles. 5.30, I'm not quite up to bench pressing the freezer yet, give me time. We move house next week so I will be moving out to the garage for weights, I will start with the lawnmower. Good luck with the hills tomorrow, shouldn't be too muddy. Good work today Chris, I bet it was chilly out there, you can train hard over the summer and have an autumn re-match. Dobster, I'm about 6 miles up the road from Chris. Birky definitely gets the northern award. JF, hope you make it to 22 tomorrow. valis, what's the longest you're running before Brighton? MC, you are out there doing something which I'm sure is good for you mentally as well as for strength.
If Birky gets the northern award I must get the southern!
Kate impressive weight lifting, is it a ride on or hover?
I originally come from Poole so short of any French people on here I must be in with a shout of southernmost native. I used to spend quite a bit of time in artic Norway so a bid for north as well
Still 0-0, half time, hopefully will finish the admin soon and get out to watch a bit
if that is the game I used to live in Spain so southern award to me?
now someone is going to say they were stationed in the falklands...
Think we might need a set of rules for this game Live/visit/work?
JF, which team do you support?
Gotta be where you live now....
Spent 3 weeks in Patagonia so claiming the southern award unless Ranulph Fiennes puts in a claim!
dobster: For some southerners, anywhere north of Watford is Up North !
The footie was a game of two halves for us. Awful in 1st Half. Much better in 2nd and we won 3-1.
Kate - good luck at the Spitfire tomorrow.
5.30, support Bournemouth as a boy, work at Ipswich now, 1-0 close but hard fought win for the Tractor Boys
JF, I was a fervent tractor boy. First game was in '78 v. Man Utd. Went to primary school there. Saw them win play-off final 13 years ago. Also went to Milan for the game against Inter.
However, that all got overridden by Pompey, especially as it's now our local team and my son is a big fan and we are both season ticketholders for the last five years.
We may have bumped into each other, I got here for the 2001/02 season. I wasn't here when they got to the playoff but did go to the final, also went to Milan.
I know a few Pompey fans and people that worked there, it's a tragedy there and a few more are likely to go the same way.
JF:My favourite Ipswich player of all time is John Wark. 36 goals in 1980/81, from midfield !
Oh dear we're being overtaken with football, I remember this happened with motorbikes a while ago.
don't understand all that talk above
Kate - probably a bit late, but good luck for today
my body said stay in bed and rest instead of turbo so I thought I had better listen to it. 10 hours in bed must be a record for me!
swim tonight and probably a short gym session later so won't be a lazy day
lol re the football talk - I spent years watching Blackpool in the old 3rd and 4th division. I never thought I'd see them in the Championship, let alone the Premiership!
I've been struggling the last 5 days after I felt a pull in mygroin in the last rep of an interval session last Tuesday - 2 physio sessions, rest and very gentle running - managed 20miles this morning, but not as comfortable as my last 20miler and I'd have been reluctant to have tried any target marathon pace miles in. Marathon is 5 weeks today and I was hoping to get some hard sessions in the next couple of weeks, but I don't want to do any sessions until I feel 100% that the groin is going to go ping again!!
Good morning all
21 miles this morning very chilly here -2c
Nw 4 horses Dw1 badger OR 3 1 friendly.
Kate good luck , I am hoping to try and fit in a 24 miler before Brighton
John, Hope its nothing serious.
I did once live further south though not as far as you two maths and Chris 3 months in Milford and 4 months in Guilford
Thank valis - the physios said that it wasn't owt serious and being able to run 20miles pretty comfortably would seem to confirm this. I'm just nervous about testing it out at a quicker pace in case the groin does go and seriously jeopardises my marathon - hopefully it is just my mind playing tricks on me!?
Evening all - a pretty good day out, as a training run I wanted sub 3 hours and went 2.55, gosh it was cold.
