Stopping during a HM. How embarassing.

I intend to laugh at the people and say 'You wouldnt catch me or WiB doing that!'
of course they might reply something to the tune of 'Well we have a life and are not so hung up on trying to finish a few minutes faster.'
Not sure what my reply to that should be.
I wouldn't acknowledge such poor performing individuals.
To be honest I expected you to have higher standards too DF3.
Top thread.
Clear highlight was Wilkie being told off for being "elitist", just because she questioned some newbie on her idea of "hard training"
Love it
What happened to Devoted2Distance? She'd enjoy this thread.
I think she's had a sex change.

But David, you keep complaining that you can't get into VLM, and Katie Price had a go at that (twice, I think).

True ......... hell even Jade Goody has competed in that ........
There's also a David Falconer who did some sussex half marathon in over 2hours.
To be fair, that'd be a sensational time if he's 73.

Medals and T-Shirts are fairly meaningless, except as mementoes. I'd prefer to see cheaper, no nonsense races, which just provide a set of results, a few winners' prizes and water. However, in a nod to the newer runners, who feel the need to hang a medal around their work desktop after walking a five hour marathon, I would support gold medals for the first fifty finishers, silver for the next fifty and bronze for the rest.

Behave, this time last year the only exercise I had got was opening the fridge door.
I like the idea of standards Gold, Silver, Bronze.
However, these would have to be sent out after the race for economic reasons.
Probably need to be age graded. 80%, 70%, 60%.
Below 60%, some sort of finishers medal. Something to aim for.

I have never did a half marathon or marathon in the Sussex area
they give out prizes to the race winners..........so it doesn't matter how fast or slow you were........if you weren't good enough to the prizes you only deserve the same crap finishers medal........

Its kind of funny to think the 4th guy in a race gets the same crap as the 16,765th person in the race.
Still its all about aspiring to the top. Thats the reason I have a picture of RicF on my bedroom wall, and the day I put it on there, my 6 year old son wandered in and said 'Daddy who is that?' ......and I replied 'That son, is who I hope to be one day ....... one day son.'
