Am not prepared to 'dish the dirt'.

My partner was not impressed so I doubt he'd want me posting on RW about it.

Just got back from my run. Measured 3.1 miles (i.e. 5k distance of the race I'm running Saturday) on MapMyRun (to get an 'idea' of my time shall we say - since there's such controversy on whether MMR is 100% accurate or not)

3.1 miles - 19.56 (went all out until I reached 3.1 then slowed)

clocked the rest of the route 6.4/6.5 miles (again, approximate MMR distance) - 45.05

Never actually pulled so many grimacing faces whilst running.

SO if I run like this on Saturday (or faster seeing as it's a race) I'll be in 8th place according to this

You've either improved massively over recent months ... or your ability to measure distance correctly is as bad as it used to be. I hope it's the former.

Good luck on Saturday.

biziliz- Mills and Boon have gone all porny, nice!!!!
28/01/2010 at 15:13
Dan - I can assure you it's accurate. I'd post my route on here if I could, but obviously that wouldn't be safe, so I guess you'll just have to wait 'n' see my name in that top 10 Saturday
28/01/2010 at 15:19

19:56 for 5K is even more impressive than 1:36 for HM (according to McMillan). If you got the distance measured correctly then you'll do well on Saturday.

Good luck D2D.  Looks like you put all the training in, so you'll get your rewards!

Cheers Dan & Rock

I'm jumping in a hot shower, then really must do some work.

28/01/2010 at 15:25
... if you got the distance measured correctly. You have history in that departemt after all.

19:56 eh?  Check out the 2009 UK rankings over 5,000m.  (They don't do 5k road for some reason...)

28/01/2010 at 15:28

oops, my mistake...

Yes they do.

(Still a freaky coincidence on the 19:56!)

28/01/2010 at 15:38

D2D, I can't remember, is this 5k at the weekend a parkrun?

If so, don't forget you need to register beforehand.  We'd all hate to see you come in sub 20 minutes as "unregistered runner" !

28/01/2010 at 15:41

MK Parkrun.

Already registered & got my laminated barcode.

Really must get in the shower now.

good luck for saturday D2D...............this is a good time to do the park run as its new its relatively will have fun a few days afterwards looking at the statistics and you can compare yourself to lots of other runners as well........

My son and OH are both trying to be the first one to be under 20 in our family............son was only 5 secs over last time he ran........I will never get anywhere near that time

28/01/2010 at 16:25

So D2D, it's fair to say that it's not a matter of IF but by HOW MUCH you'll run under 20 on sunday, right?

Somehow, I'm not confident...

28/01/2010 at 16:32

Somehow, you sound like an arse when everyone else is wishing me well, Imski.

Oh well, your issue, not mine.

Cheers Seren Which Parkrun have you been running?

Good luck D2D. Hundreds are awaiting your result! (No pressure or anything!)
