Acupuncture and running

Wondering if someone can help me.
Just returned from a visit at the orthopaedist. Complained of ongoing problems with my achilles and stiffness in one hip.
The doc clicked my hips into place then applied two acupuncture in the small of my back.
Never had this done before. The doc - not a running fan - then said I shouldn't run for a week or at least until the weekend cos of the acupuncture. I am gutted cos the weather is beautiful today and I was looking forward to getting out.
What do you think - is it advisable to lay off the running?

not heard that before - i will check with my Physio colleagues who do acupuncture about it tho

if youve had some mobilisation/manipulation of your hip you may be a bit uncomfortable for a day or two after

if youve got an injury then you would be best resting anyway tho so perhaps a few days without running would be benficial

some gentle cross training - swimming or other exercises?

whats the injury problem anyway?

Buney - the main problem is two stiff achilles. been living with them for ages - on and off. think (not very good asking questions at the docs) the accupuncture was more for the stiffnes in my hip. Of course there could be a connection with the achilles but only had this stiffness for a few weeks. Going to look into physio next for the achilles

Wildwill - glad to read your reply. when i told the doc i run regularly he looked at me like i was the devil...possibly hence his comment.

Have acupuncture regularly, he only recommends not training that day to allow time for healing to work.

I had acupuncture for plantar fasciitis and was told not to run for 3 days after each session.

Seems like they make up the rules as they go along ;o)
