Please can someone confirm for me that it is possible to raise your BMR??

I have been of the opinion that it can drop if your body goes into starvation mode but that it can be raised by regular exercise.

Anyone know the facts on this?

Yes - if you dump 0.5kg of fat and gain 0.5kg of muscle you BMR will increase by all of 350kcals per week for the same body weight

But as a rule of thum you resting metabolic rate (RMR) will be your body weight in lbs

Then to get your MR (excluding training) you apply a multiplyer

1.2-1.4 for sedentry peeps
1.4-1.6 for moderatly active
1.6-1.8 for very active

========================================

Then if you add the kcals you burn in exersize you have estimated you daily calorific requirements

then aim to get

60% of these kcals from carbs
15% of these kcals from protein
20% of these kcals from from fat

The odd 5% allows adjustments
