Cholesterol reducing spreads

You know, Flora ProActiv and Benecol. Are these God's gift to compensate for my beloved bacon butty, or a con?

Is there a doctor in the house?

They're so bloody expensive that most of us wouldn't be able to afford the bacon if we bought them, Muttley. And they don't taste like butter.

They're not a total con - in conjunction with an overall low-saturated-fat diet, they do contribute to cholesterol-lowering - but unless you know your cholesterol is raised, I'd stick with having whatever spread you like, but having it in moderation.

I like the Benecol cream cheese substitute.

Sadly I can't afford it.

Don't touch them with a barge-pole
