Hi all
Have developed a monumental bout of cystitis this evening, suddenly out of the blue. I'm on/off the loo every few minutes and it really hurts (all the time) I'm drinking loads and have had warm bath etc but not helping. I know cranberry juice is good but don't have any to hand. Any ideas to get me through the night?
Thanks x

Painkillers, plenty water, hot water bottle may help sooth it. Just got to see it out.

I recommend nettle tea, cranberry Juice, green tea and water...and lots of it. If you have nothing else, try some anti-inflammatories and go from there :)

I'd get to the doctor and go from there to get some antibiotics

Jiggi
make sure they send a urine sample to the lab before they give you antibiotics-not just a dipstick test
then you know exactly what you are dealing with

Hope you managed a few hours sleep last night Jiggi. Sorry I couldn't be more helpful. Sounds like PH knows his onions though.

You have my sympathies, Jiggi - it't horrible, I know :-(

I found Ibuprofen helped, and cranberry is said to help too, although that doesn't help in the nght if you haven't got any!

Ooops! sorry, not a very flattering user name for a laydee

Thanks all
have got trimethoprim from GP and she has sent off a sample so will know if need a different antibiotic.
Feeling carp though. Lack of sleep not helping and sore tummy!!!
Husband away so no cosseting, but younger son is being great and not atall moany about not going swimming which we had planned to do. Elder son at SEN holiday scheme until 3.30 so I shall get some rest. Spose I should eat something too.
Is moaning a lot a side effect of cystitis?!!!!! Sorry!!!

P.S. am now awash in cranberry juice: what an odd "dry" tasting drink!!

it bloody hurts jiggi

you poor thing

Sorry I didn't see this sooner - bicarbonate of soda and water also helps - used to get cystitis fairly often and if it didn't get better with 24 hours I normally opted for antibiotics.

No bicarb or cranberry then any old liquid helps ease the pain a bit.

Hope it goes soon!
