Does anyone else get a cough with hayfever?

Over the past 10 days or so I have developed an annoying dry cough. I'm feeling fine otherwise, but the cough is getting really irritating - I was wondering whether it could be hayfever? I do get hayfever, have done for years but start the drugs (antihistamine, and a nasal spray...haven't needed the eye drops yet this year)before my normal symptoms start in March (itchy eyes, snot, itchy roof of mouth) otherwise it take ages to calm it down. This cough is new, but I can't think what else it could be...

...I am booked in to see the doc, but as its not an emergency I've got to wait. Just wondering if there is anything I can do in the meantime.

 Thanks!

hi erika,

i used to have really bad asthma a few years back. (needed to use reliever and preventer inhalers daily) I would have fits of coughing, alot of it during the night.   I started exercising and now no longer have the cough and no longer use the pumps.  The only time it comes back is when i get hay fever.

So i think you may have mild asthma which is triggered off by the hayfever?

Thanks Daisy, the thought did cross my mind. My mother and hsuband are both asthmatic and it is a similar cough to when their's is flaring up. Hopefully it will b*gger off once the pollen eases off. It woke me up last night which is a pain, got the doc appointment next week anyhow.
