feeling completely run down - boo hoo!!

Hi all,

did my running last week as per normal, went for a long run 2 days (only 8 miles and then 7) on the trot and since then I have felt like death warmed up. I didn't run on Friday or Saturday but I had entered a race (10k) for Sunday and did that because I thought I would be O.K. and although I did struggle it was still a good run (I run 10k 3times a week so it should have been a doddle) but today I feel yuk!! I want to go back to bed and have no energy or enthusiasm - I don't think I have been overdoing it and my diet is really good so why, 9 days before the GNR do I feel like pooh!!

Hi plodding hippo - love the new pic

She has new shoes and running top - I always run in orange - they call me tango woman!! Hope I haven't got a virus - any suggestion as to how to get rid of it without seeing the doctor?

the doc wont help

just rest if you need to
you wont gain any additional fitness before GNR

some people take that echinacea stuff-but im a medic, and im not convinced

I take that echinacea too but aren't you meant to take it for only 2 weeks and then have a weeks rest? - I've been taking it for months and only found that out today when I was trying to find out why I feel like this.

How many miles do you run each day and how did you get to doing that - every time I increase I end up with something going wrong and I am assuming it's my body telling me to stop

oh grumle
if i am tired i will just do 2 miles

currently on a marathon a week for a few weeks, so although i run daily, i only do short ones

i run very VERY slowly

i think thats why i can do it

aiming for about 40mpw

I think I need to run a bit less at a time, I always run 6 - 10 miles which I know a lot of runners do - and more but maybe I'm just not meant too. Maybe I'm addicted:O)!!

I try to run 6 days a week with 2 days being 3.5 miles and the other 4 being either 6.7 , 8 or 10.
There are some lovely runs around here.

how fast do you run

maybe you need to slow some of them down
mind you, you have time constraints dont you with the little one

I'm not fast - I ran the 10K in 54 minutes on Sunday, but I don't usually run that fast during the week especially with the weather being a bit humid as it has been. I don't really have any time restraints at the moment as the little un (not so little now though) leaves for school at 8 and doesn't get home until 4.30. Do you run at any specific time of day?

ok, its all relative
My 10k time in 64 mins
but i havent done a flat one yet, and thats my excuse

I try to run in the mronings
but i am not working at the momnet, so am more flexible

The one I did on Sunday was flat (West Pinchbeck) but it was hot - my hubby ran past me on the final bend and if I'd have been quick enough I would have kicked him!!
I'm not working at the moment either but will be soon so maybe the miles will come down a little.

well, i think the best thing is to rest for a day or two
before the GNR, i wouldnt do more than 3-4 miles now, really
you know you can do the distance
and racing really dos take it out of you
