Take anti-inflam's + rest.

May well take more than 2 weeks to repair itself. I had bad one one which took a month once, although it was caused by something much more severe than running.

I pulled (the groin that is) many years ago and it was v.painful. Saw physio who could only manipulate it, refusing to give cortisone injection cos it was too near an artery. The strains, both sides by now, had always caused me problems in stiffness so I exercise by stretching though I had to wait until the physio gave the all clear.

Had a similar injury (adductor mucsle strain) a while back and took physio advice and treatment. It was about 6-8 weeks before I got back to normal but these injuries vary greatly in severity. If you can't walk (literally) I cannot see you making a 1/2 in two weeks. Physio manipulation of such a soft tissue area can also be painful in itself. Sorry to be depressing but it is also an injury that can recur if you don't warm-up and stretch religiously.

See a physio asap and good luck.

Donna, Took me 2 weeks to recover from a groin strain with complete rest. Then 1 further week of light running before back into normal training. Once your injury has cleared up, make sure that you include groin stretches in your warm ups. My groin still feels a little tight six months later, but it doesn't stop me from running. Good luck.

been treated for groin strain earlier this year. "Rest" would definitely not have fixed it. Get physio, do your exercises, stretch EVERYTHING below the waste daily and you'll live with it. Apparently you'll never be 100% again, but if you know how to manage it, it's a bit step forwards.

I have been unable to do any serious running for 10 weeks now with a groin strain. With physio's approval I tried building mileage back up after 2 weeks to try for the London Marathon - big mistake, subsequent recovery despite regular physio sessions has been very very slow. Warning, groin strains can be very slow to recover so I really would advise that your priority must be full recovery from the injury. Don't do that race, there are other races to do, otherwise you risk a long term chronic injury.

have got a groin strain which i can run with without pain, but hurts if i try to sprint or run at threshold pace. decided to rest and not run for a while, but when will i know im ready to start again? will i have a recurring problem after each race or speed session? will seeing the doc be of any use at all?

im tore my groin 4 weeks before my recent half marathon, rested well and did some light training the week leading up to the race, I think adrenaline got me through the race with no problems at all but then the injury came back when i started running again a week after the race.

Sorry to say, but I really dont think I could have run the half two weeks after my injury..
