Heel Problem

Not plantar fasciitis.

Hope someone can help - have looked at the plantar fasciitis description and its not that.

Last week when for my longest run (2 miles longer - 10 miles) and during felt a tightness in my heel - disappeared shortly after it arrived. Anyway could not run following day as it was tender - not too bad but did not want to risk it.

Iced it, took anti inflammatories and have not run for a week. Took dog for a brisk walk this morning and the tightness is still there - no pain, but am reluctant to try running just in case.

Feel a trip to the doctors coming on, but if anyone has an ideas as to what the problem could be, it would be greatly appreciated

many thanks

hi Dave, i have a similar complaint. i've been out for a 7 mile steady run today and near the end i felt some soreness in my right heel (right on the bony bit below the achiles).

I've not had any such problems before. It's still a bit sore after 5 hours but i've iced it and i'll see how it is in the morning.

Have a look at the section on calcaneal bursa section under the injuries A-Z section on here. it sounds quite similar (if a little worse) than what i've got. Maybe it'll help.

Good luck.

Thanks for response, have had a look and my symptons do not include pain in the heel.

The only way I can describe the problem is that it is tight, not painful but I know its there.

Thanks again
