Over last few weeks Ive been suffering with increasing pain through my right knee cap. The pain becomes manageable during a run but returns afterwards with a vengeance, to the extent of struggling up and down stairs, kerbs etc. It feels as is the seat of the pain is directly behind the centre of the knee cap.
Any Ideas?? treatments?? preventions??

Oh Jeffers, I think I've been there. Get thee to a good sports physio and get checked for ITBS and maltracking patella and tendonitis. I've had recurring pain in my right kneecap which is caused by a variety of poor bio-mechnics and weedy muscles. A good physio will put you on the road to recovery.

okays...been to fizio. she measured my legs...and guess what... My right thigh is 2 cm short than my left one!!!!

She very confident that this is the root of the problem and has given me a 1 cm heel lift to try for a week..

Me too jeffers (14mm diff + LOTs of probs as a result, plus misc heel lifts/orthotics)

Be careful though - heel lifts etc can have knock-on effects and cause other niggles (eg lower back, ankle) as your body will, to a certain extent, have adapted to this length difference over the years...
