Hi everyone, I'm in desperate need of some advice so any will be greatly appreciated. I ran on a lower back/ hip injury for about 2 years until I could take no more. I stopped running September 2011 and apart from failed attempts I haven't ran since. I've seen musculoskeletal specialists, hip surgeons, a chiropractor and numerous physios. The latest asking me to work on my core strength which I have been doing for the last 6 weeks but to no avail. I've had x-rays and an MRI scan which came back with a slight bulge in my lower back but the doctor said it was nothing to worry about. Once again any advice or information would be greatly appreciated as the thought of not running again is unbearable. Thanks

....it sounds as if you're having your symptoms and not your cause looked at. MRI will be normal as you've got a functional, not a structural issue - there will be one indicator on the MRI which is commonly missed and that's the amount of fat infiltration in your deep lumbar supportive muscles due to underused.

If you haven't had your thoracic spine attributed to the cause, then keep looking until you find someone who says that....I'm sure you're well treatbale with the right input.

Good Luck

Hi thanks a lot for the reply. Who would you suggest that I turn to next for treatment? The NHS don't seem to know what to do with me and if anything the chiropractor has made my back worse!
Thanks again
