Numb Leg

Numb Leg When Running

Hello,

Over recent weeks I have started to get a numb leg whilst running (always the same one).  The area of numbmness varies anywhere from my ankle to knee, but tends to be mainly around my lower calf.

It doesn't hurt, but is a bit uncomfortable and just plain wierd!!  I'm worried that I will run funny to compensate and end up injuring myself in another way in doing so!

Has anyone else had this?  Any ideas what it is / what causes it?

Cheers

Have you tried loosening your shoe? That might help.... although if it going down all your leg i was told to have my back looked at because it could be something to do with a trapped nerve.

Thanks for the response.

I have tried loosening my shoe...to the point where it was almost falling off, but it made no difference.

The numbness also occurs in any of my three pairs of trainers and occasionally when I'm not running.......

I'd really have it looked at- especially if its happening when you're not running.

Might be sciatica.  Get a physio to look at your back.  It doesn't sound major at the momment but it could get more serious so get it checked out sooner rather than later.
