Pain in outside of ankle

Hi everyone,

I was wondering if anyone could give me some advice.  This year I started running again after a few years of not running - really enjoying it!  I usually do three five-mile runs a week.  But after a couple of weeks, I ran and had a really sore right ankle, on the outside of the leg and towards the top of the ankle, for a few days.  I rested for 10 days and it felt fine but when I ran again I had the same problem and could feel it during the second half of the run.  Then I rested for a week and ran again and had the same problem.

My trainers feel comfortable and I had my gait analysed when I bought them and they said I was neutral.  Has anyone had anything similar?  Are there any exercises I could do to strengthen that area?  Would an ankle support help?

Thanks a lot,

Will

May be peroneal tendonitis?

There are a few stretches that you can do to help. Try these...

Hope it helps.
