Oh yes, we will put ourselves on the start line.  We will endure, enjoy, encourage others along the way, try to spread a little fun, and finish with a smile on our faces.

We is hard core nutters we is.

At the moment Eagle, I am not convinced.
I've just spent a couple of hours trying to sort out flooded stables and flooded fields and it's just getting steadily worse down here.
I'm not a fair-weather runner by any stretch of the imagination, but I really don't know if I want to spend 5+ hours on the seafront in these conditions.

Speedy - I've driven in worse floods in a smaller car. In fact I have actually floated briefly and I've watched the water pour into the footwells and considered having to post my small children out through the sunroof (didn't happen in the end!). I'm sick and tired of the rain and the floods but I'm not scared of it!
I am pretty terrified of some other drivers though.

Watching news and you are certainly having it worse down there. Take care all.

Limper that would have been scary having your children in the car glad everything was ok then. Yes I agree it's the other idiots. Some fool overtook me last night on a hill in the dark on a flooded road. It's not just themselves they are putting at risk. Fools.

I agree Limper that 5 hours would be a long time to have to suffer such bad weather. You will make the right decision for you.

Car not any better. Engine warning light still on and still shuddering today. Only took it to the shop to try it. Not wanting to tell hubby before Christmas as he will go ballistic and say it is my fault for going through the floods and not turning back. Will just need to keep limping it along for a few days I think.

Limper have you decided about your run tomorrow yet?
22/12/2012 at 17:47

I haven't fully decided yet Speedy but it's pretty doubtful. If I was fitter I would be happy to try but I've been struggling a bit the past couple of weeks on short distances and the weather is just making it seem too daunting.
If I wake up to a beautiful winters day I'll give it a go. I'm up at the crack of dawn for the horses so will hopefully be able to make a decision in time.

Shame about your car. A big 4x4 shouldn't suffer that badly. Unless you dorve into the flood at a cracking speed and pushed a tidal wave through the front grill?!

Fingers crossed it might be nice enough for you but I understand where you are coming from especially if you feel you are not 100% fit.

Wasn't going fast. Possible about 40 everytime I hit a flood as cars right on my tail. There was a big wave each time due to the amount if water but it was also the amount of water lorries were throwing up coming the other way. Totally obliterated my windscreen doni couldn't see a thing until wipers cleared window. I guess it's done some damage. Can't afford another huge repair. The piggy bank us empty.

Speedy sorry to hear about the car

I guess the boys have swapped their fluffy pj's for their slinky lycra by now and have mustered for take off.
I'm still in my fluffy pj's, listening to the rain-free wind howling outside and struggling to make up my mind!
I'll go and prod the limpettes and see what they think.

And the decision was?

Speedy the decision was

Limper & RE.
Your company , companionship, good will and general friendship was greatly appreciated today.
Truer friends I could not ask for.
23/12/2012 at 19:02
Well done all of you. I believe it was a toughy. Hope you are all having a well earned drink now. I hope you remembered me in your hugs.

Speedy we did
23/12/2012 at 19:34

I gained a marathon that I had no intention of running 12 short hours ago and it was entirely due to the power of friendship.
I don't know what I ever did to deserve Tippy and Eagle's friendship but I will be forever glad that I know them.
Thank you both my lovely boys.

Speedy - you were indeed thought of and virtually hugged.

23/12/2012 at 19:44
Limper you are most welcome poppet.
23/12/2012 at 20:13

What can I say?  Friendship, support, laughs, hugs.  I could not do it without them.

You were there with us in spirit Speedy, and I believe a group hug piccie taken especially for you may be posted by Limper.

We all have our troubles, but they were set aside for 26.2 miles today in what was a truely moving experience.

Sincere thanks to you all, Lee's partner for our transport, and a Limpette for her calls of encouragement as we made our way.

Morning all on a wet and windy Christmas Eve.

I don't ache as much as I should so hopefully I won't get ribbed by my colleagues for doing the waddle-walk!
I might not even bother with the massage offer that's lined up for me. What do you reckon Tippy?

Hope my boys are well this morning?
Hope things are OK in Speedy-land?

I'm off to w*rk now. Bah humbug!

24/12/2012 at 08:25
Limper, rub rub rub. Just think of Aladdin.
All is well at tippy towers.
I will check in on the Eagle later.
Will post piccie later today once all the chores are done.
I don't know a princes work is never done.

It is so lovely to read about such friendship and that you all helped each other round. Well done boys and girls - helpers included. Thank you for my virtual hug.

Have a lovely Christmas Eve everyone.
