I've taken 6 weeks off with a stress fracture. Started running again and got severe pain across the top of my foot but further up towards the ankle, also along the outer side of the foot, and up the outer side of the lower calf. GP says "you've got flat feet, buy some orthotics and you'll be fine - and I won't consider anything else until you've tried these orthotics I wear and recommend." Well, okay I could spend £23.50 on the recommended orthotics at Boots (if they had them in my size, which they don't) but I feel there's more to it than that and I want to fix the problem, not splint it.
The pain is really variable - I did 3 x 5 minutes running two days ago with no problem, only niggles yesterday and today, was about to go out this evening and the pain really flared up so I didn't go out at all. Going nuts.
Suggestions?
