After running three Marathons under 4 hours i was feeling unwell a few days before my fourth London Marathon. I had ate very little on Thursday,Friday and Saturday and felt awful but having collected my race number early was determined to run on Sunday. Woke early on Sunday feeling okay but a bit fragile so decided to finish the race i would forget about timing and just run slowly. Without any pressure on myself i ran the whole race without a walk break for my first the first time and finished in 3:58. I felt more satisfied with that than a 3:44 PB with a couple of walk breaks at the Shakespeare Marathon a few years before.
So your pearl of wisdom is to not eat anything before a marathon or not to time yourself as you'll go slower?
Hardly a pearl of wisdom!
