Nightmare !!!! I have only gone and got myself an injury.

Pain killers help but not really sure what to do.

i have done 22M run and confidence is high for 4.15. Thinking about totally resting up until the big day and going slower? any ideas on what to do?

The pain is right in the middle of my calf and only hurts when I put my foot down firmly.

Anty,
Sorry to hear about the injury. I would rest for until a week Wednesday, then go out for a short run of 3 to 4 miles to check the pain has gone.
You are not going to lose much fitness by not running, and as much rest as possible may get over the injury.

Go and see a physio now. Don't run until you see them, then do what they tell you...

Yep - do what Greg says.

Agree with Greg and HF?. Arrange appointment with fizz straight away, rest until seen, follow their advice to the letter and keep fingers firmly crossed! Good luck.

I'm having a nightmare with an injury too. Very annoying as I'm in much better shape, generally, than I was last year for my first attempt (oh, the wisdom of experience). I've got a strained tendon in my foot - not serious, having it treated, but it's taking forever to go...haven't done a proper run (apart from a pathetic shuffle for 20 minutes on Saturday!) since my 20 miler, just over 2 weeks ago.

Everyone's saying I'll be fine on the day - I just have to rest, etc. - but I'm worried about not doing shorter, faster runs to keep me sharp, and the fitness up.
Help!!

Lottie, you won't DNF because you missed a few short runs over the next two weeks but you might DNF if you don't allow your foot to hel. Foot tendons take time and complete rest to heal so don't run at all during the next two weeks. Your foot will then be in the best shape possible on the day and you'll probably find that you'll feel stronger because of the rest.

I know it's hard because you feel that you should be training but I promise you that if you did 20 miles 2 weeks ago you will get round the marathon.

Mister W - thanks so much. Sometimes you just need to be told you'll be ok!
I've just seen the osteopath for the last time, and she says I'm healing very well, and very quickly - though it may not feel like it! - and I should be running comfortably next week.

Thankyou, thankyou - and good luck to everyone in looking after yourselves in these last few days.
