...........who help out on the day, marshalling the route, handing out water etc.

GIVE THEM A SMILE AND A THANKS.

With out them you wouldn't be able to do the marathon.....

I marshal our own club run races and sometimes (especially the back markers) do actually say thanks. I usually run in with the last few, just to keep them going

I was at the World Vets marathon in Gateshead a few years back and everybody passing gave us a few kind words

I do too as I marshall too....was doing it last Sunday when the leader passed on his 2nd lap, gave me a big cheesy grin and said hello, me again.... made my day knowing the leader was grateful!
