Do any of you out there know if the timing chips we wear are GPS trackers or do they only track us by the times that we cross the  5 k markers? Many thanks

In London ? No they're not GPS - but they will register every 5k and the half way point.

Thanks a lot cougie, I did think that was how it worked last time but have heard talk that you can be tracked on google type map, thought this was a bit optamistic
