Ten days ago I did the Manchester marathon. I had to work on saturday night and I didn't finish till 1 o'clock.By the time you go to bed, try to suppress the excitiment is almost half past two and at six up for breakfast and an hour's drive to Manchester. Well, when you get there you are left stranded freezing for an hour waiting for the bus. Add to that a bad case of sciatica and a very tight left calf. But I finished under 3.27 and when the pain was gone all is forgotten. If I do get a place I hope I don't have to do the same. Driving for 4 hours in the middle of the night is not an exciting prospect...

3:27 after all that - WOW. Just think what you could do with a good night's sleep in a hotel minutes from the start! Get your hotel room booked now and take the day before off work, just in case. Buy some charity shop clothes to keep you warm at the start and do some stretches. 3:15 here you come!

excellent achievement before the 'inconveniences' - superb in the circumstances.
