maybe it's because i'm american, but i had never tried jelly babies and decided i should to make sure they agreed with me before sunday.

so i bought some today, and despite having a big sweet tooth, i thought they were pretty repulsive. are there other brands i should try? i got "bassett's."

What have you used on your long runs though ?

You shouldn't try something new if you haven't run with it before.

(mail me the bag - I'll dispose of them humanely)

Hi Lucrece-how are the injuries? Been a long time since Trailplus!
They were a bit sweet for me too so, after many trials, I'm taking a few each of jelly babies, choc peanuts and rice crackers. Bit of salt and sugar!

ok, what are "joosters"? sorry!

hi, jaq! things were up in the air up until saturday when the osteopath started giving my shins ultrasound, and now it is healing quickly. YAY!! how are you? and how do you carry all that food with you? chocolate peanuts sound excellent. actually chocolate anything is great for me, but i heard it is not the easiest to carry.

Small fruit flavour sweets with chewy middle, available from all good sweet shops. Same idea, full of sugar but I just tend to use energy gels. A lot of runners swear by them though and they can withstand hotter weather than jelly babies (which I also cannot stand).

In a small plastic bag, tucked into a small waist bag. If you don't have a small waist bag, then in a plastic bag tucked inside your bra or shorts. (This is where the chocolate becomes a not-so-brilliant idea.)

Joosters are small fruit flavoured jelly-bean tupe sweets.

And bearing in mind their popularity, 'available' from sweet shops may no longer apply! Better than jelly babies though IMHO.

I'm taking a bum bag type thing that is fairly flat with a seperate bit for keys etc. Got it from a travel shop and it's actually much flatter than a bumbag so things won't rattle about. £9.99-excellent!
Good news about your shins.

Hmmm you've left this one a touch late - you run the risk of whatever you try disagreeing with you unfortunately. I find that SIS go-gels are excellent and v.palatable but they're not everyone's bag. If you are going on a run this week it would be worth testing a product but prob not the same as when you're 2hours into a run. Good luck..
