Thanks guys, thinking back I did a longish run with wrong socks on earlier in the week. I usually wear twin skin socks and have usually have no problems. I put Vaseline on too. Thinking maybe just irritated a sore bit yesterday.

Good point B think I'll do that next time just incase

B is right compeed are really good as is bodyglide on any bits that chafe.  I tend to wear the monoskin socks as I find the twin skin ones can bunch up and cause rubbing and blisters.

Did a 20 mile train run today so I'm finally feeling ready for the marathon.

Well done Prawnie! My first 20miler is coming up on Sunday, but I did the Haweswawer 1/2 marathon on Sunday faster than I expected, so confidence is up for a while!

Boing Boing

Last call for runners and supporters.  The Good Sister will be divvying up and sorting out in the next few days.

Going back to the blistery issue ... I tend to wrap toes and other foot bits prone to rubbing in micropore tape.  I also put same on bits where seams or strings from shorts rub or if it's a sports bra which rubs under boobage when it gets wet.  It's great fun peeling all the tape off in the bath after a long run ....

All Excited now  Its getting close!!!

Cheers all for the advice re blisters, thankfully this one has gone done a few runs and no issues at all. Well apart from yesterday when a bird shat on my head. ha ha Ah the things we go through. I have decided though just in case on the long runs I am going to put a Compeed plaster on the area the blister was, extra protection.

Hey guys, I've been quiet on the forums recently due to RL stuff taking over but just wanted to pop back to say that I will DEFINITELY be joining the supporters crew at the VLM

I've recently discovered the joys of Compeed blister plasters - I had two huuuuuge blood blisters on the soles of my feet (result of running in icy slush with the wrong socks) and literally tried everything in the anti-blister aisle at Boots to get rid of them. My top tip (if you have large blisters) is to use the EXTREME ones that are meant for heels, rather than the underfoot ones and if you are going to be doing a long run, consider using some zinc oxide tape over the top to make sure the plaster doesn't budge. Mine have completely gone now and the skin is almost as good as new

TP - three of my non-forum friends are running VLM, am I allowed to add them to the runners list or is that too cheeky?

i could get there off the A13 could'nt i or we

i could phone the Azda manager and explain my siuation and ask if we could park there for the day

08/03/2012 at 15:05

please - those who have been before, how far roughly is Azda from the Support zone

Just up the road... about 5 min walk at best
08/03/2012 at 21:39

400m would be my estimate and I am sure they'd let you park Mick if you explained.

Just add your friends Xine or if you want them in your group just 'adopt' them into it when the people are divvied up

I'm getting impatient now.  I want to know who is in my group so that I can get organising.  I'm not pestering the lovely SBH or TP as I know they have lives out side the forum (at least I have heard a rumour to that effect) but please hurry up
09/03/2012 at 14:05

Fab, thanks TP - I'll adopt them into my group

I am so excited about cheering squad duties, possibly more excited than I am about running Brighton the week before!

Hey SC are the pom poms coming back this year?  I hope I'm in your group, I hear B is going to be there too.
09/03/2012 at 21:56
OOh Xine, I'm running Brighton the week before too! We can limp around together in the supporters' pen at VLM!
10/03/2012 at 10:11
Pom poms have been dusted off Prawnie. Are you marshalling again, or just running this time?
10/03/2012 at 13:58

I think we're planning to do the divvy up this weekend or early next week.  About a month beforehand is the usual time

10/03/2012 at 20:36
I'm marshalling and running this year.
