As this is first marathon - I have been following a Hal Higdon plan I have two long runs left a 19miler this weekend and a 20miler on 31st March. Is it worth doing a little more or should I just stick to the distance?

Claire, there is no need to do any more than 20 miles in training. I've done 5 marathons now and never done a training run longer than 20 miles, and often I don't get above 16 miles.

u need to consider not burning out and taper
arriving fresh - that does not mean no running at all, it simply means ease of the distance
u dont want any injuries - and u dont want to be tired, heavy legged, or exhausted -
now, people, you can trust me on this or not,
20 miles in training still eaves 6 miles unknown territory, and its all on the day

Was that a nag at me madam?! Lol - I'm not hopeful of getting the lists done befor the weekend now so will take the laptop home from work and hopefully do them on Sunday (whilst recovering from the rugby all day on Saturday - I am unable to watch it without feeling the need to raise a glass - or ten!!!)
