Besides the Champs places (low 100's for women, high 100's for men as far as I remember but it's not really relevant), the other numbers are allocated according to which start you're on, which in turn corresponds to how you entered the race, e.g. ballot places off Blue, charity places and Fast GFA off Red, GFA off Green...  So the successful ballot entry numbers will be in a block (2,000 to 10,000 or whatever...) but presumably random within that block, or possibly according to some other criteria like alphabetical, which has no correlation with expected finish time.

They have to have all sorts in the race. If everyone was going to finish in the same time for example they'd be logistic chaos. But they must find a way to give a place to those that have been unsuccessful for 8,9,10 attempts. That's just ridiculous.

“But they must find a way to give a place to those that have been unsuccessful for 8,9,10 attempts”.

I've been unsuccessfull for years with the lottery but nobody has changed the rules to let me win.

9 years in a row, no luck for me. Someone mentioned doing Edinburgh instead - I'm not sure I'd bother, did it this year and wasn't really impressed by the organisation.

Not sure if the saying 'no news is good news' applies.  Still waiting to hear if I have a place.

AMR1- I would have thought you should have by now. I would give them a call Monday if nothing comes before.

edit- actually thats a complete lie, im too impatient for that. I would call them starightaway!!

I too am in a state of abject fidget waiting to hear. Paid in advance too, with bequest, so no way to find out via the 'pay here' link.

*paces*

*seriously considers a second run for today*

Neither husband nor anyone else I know has got in...

Finally in through the ballot after 2 Charity years.

Does anyone actually read the 'sorry' magazine?  Does anyone even take the polythene cover off it?

Missed out for the umpteenth time. Magazine went straight into the recycling bin. Quite like the top though, could be a useful base layer.

Not going to bother reapplying unless they bring back the fleeces. My current ones are nearing their end.

I've received & read some of the sorry magazine.  Loads of adverts of course, but some f the training stuff has improved over the years.

Taunton Marathon here I come, need to bag GFA for when I'm 60!
