Am doing marathon in mid April and wondered if for whatever reason can't do a long run is it possible to do two in one week or recipe for injury disaster? Was thinking of 15 miles on Monday and then 16.5 on Friday with no runs between as cant do long run this week because of work/family commitments.

Time is running out and realise the value of the long runs in marathon training

Hi Sibi

I'm following the Pete Pfitzinger book, and in that it recommends at least a 4 day break between long runs - so Mon and Fri are ok.  However the Pfitzinger long runs are 10% to 20% slower than goal marathon pace, so make sure you don't push the pace on those 2 close runs.

good luck

Maybe also do an easy run on Wednesday just to keep the legs going if you can
