Changing your running style

I'm a marathon virgin hoping to do the virgin( london) marathon...I'm building my miles slowly but have realised i run on the balls of my feet which obviously puts huge strain on my calfs......

Has anyone had to alter their running style to accomodate the longer distances!!!

Is there a proven way of changing your running style?

Is it easy or even possible?

Anyway, any thoughts warmly welcomed.

PS sorry if i'm on the wrong forum.

Yes you can change your running form.
But as a gross generalisation, landing on your balls is more often associate with a good running style than a poor one.
When you say run on your balls, does your heel touch the ground at all, or is it a case of the ball of the foot touching the ground first followed by the heel touching afterwards.
Have a google of POSE running, chi running or evolution running styles for some ideas.
