I can't see those new emoticons on me work PC either....it's probably yet another glitch, along with the fact I can't change my forum name

Minni - that's my kinda workout

I think the Asics have been announced and I'd just like to say congratulations to those who didn't get through!  You don't need a competition where you win the chance to follow a crap schedule and have your every moved watched to achieve your marathon dreams.  What you need is the motivation to train hard and follow a schedule that addresses your weaknesses and potential.   You are the real winners at the end of the day.

now, get your pitches in on the Forum 6 thread!

The Asics competition could provide a lot of extra amusement this year if they are using myasics for the plan.

13/12/2012 at 12:28

I didnt get through , infact I dont think anyone from my group did! something about jiggling the groups around. Looks like I can get drunk tomorrow night now at my OH christmas party, run the santa special on Sunday in fancy dress and join most of you down at VLM

Forum 6 here I come, although i dont know if I can handle two rejections in one week! Had better get to work, having a nightmare of a day so far

Watch it!

Did the 2:20 chap get through.  That would be fun....

13/12/2012 at 12:40

Sarah, sorry you didn't get through because I know you really wanted it but honestly, your training and times will be much better without it.  You've clearly got so much potential you would have been wasted on the asics plans.

Lots of posts to fail to keep up with so Spoons is right there are too many

Minni-excellent killer session in dangerous conditions.Ever thought about doing them on a TM , just think how pi'**ed off youd be if you slipped and injured yourself. Even the professionals do a bit of their speed sessions that way. Didnt know you were a ipod user ...and in a race....now we need to know your play list..

FRC-Secretly I knew you hadnt gone soft- thats a heavy load of racing. My list of definate races for the next 5 months is...VLM...pathetic and unworthy for this thread.

KFC-dont think it would be a good idea to do those exercises after the Chinese I had yesterday.

DD-what is a 400? never done any...maybe thats why Im slow and cant break 40mins for 10k. When is that half IM?

Chick-dont you think you should be wearing XC skis not running in that snow? I wouldn concern yourself with the speed just doing a run like that is enough

Simon-good to see you recovering and a good TM session too

Shady-I rest when circumstances conspire to prevent me running but ideally I try and do a minimum of 4 runs pw ideal;ly 5/6 in the last month before taper and in the earllier months rest days will often include a swim/ergo row or spinnning.

Free -that was a great TM session too-not enough TM work done by the guys on here but then I dont like the rain or cold

Sarah-Iwant those pills can you send me a prescription please. So you run, play net ball and swim...what else?

Pauls-I used to run around those walls when I was in College in Chester only trouble was crashing into the Chinese tourists. The run around the race course was good though the grass was a bit long and we had to watch out for horses

So I ran off the Banquet this morning-10.32 miles steady pace -it was to icy for anything faster(thats my excuse anyway) Beautiful sunny frosty morning--not much to better it apart from standing on the top of a mountain in the Alps looking at the view ready to ski down.

13/12/2012 at 12:43

Sarah-thats a shame-you would have been perfect for it.Never mind youll do better with us.

13/12/2012 at 12:44

Sarah and DS2- Sorry to hear you didn't get through but Minni is right- you don't need it! You both have loads of motivation and I'm sure will do great with or without the competition. Good luck with the Forum 6 if you decide to go for it.

Minni- well done on your killer session.  I can't believe you did it on an A road... I find these session hard enough on the track where there are no distractions. Nice MP pace!

FRC- love Stanley

Carrot- I'm with you, hypochondriacs drive me insane.  Quite a few of them at work...

13/12/2012 at 12:50

Hypochondriacs make me sick....

13/12/2012 at 12:58

Hahaha, thankyou guys and thankyou for all your support, I really do appreciate it. I will post to forum 6 tomorrow and take my chances. After RW jiggling the places so no one actually got through in my category and they moved Mel to busy lifestyle im ready to train hard and prove that I dont need the ASICS team to get a sub 3:30.

13/12/2012 at 13:01

2old...whats your adress???

Well im great at shopping and socialising, do they count??

I also do a bit of cycling but thats usually on a bike in the gym so I can read a journal at the same time...kill two birds with one stone and all that !

13/12/2012 at 13:04

Sarah-killing birds too? Thats Minni's department. Now for another big lunch-you can see its Xmas

13/12/2012 at 13:08

Sarah - sorry you missed out. Seems unfair they have changed some categories around though - so the results are not actually based on what we all thought we were voting for   Good luck with the Super 6, but you are already going in the right direction for a sub 3.30 so I'm sure you'll do it

13/12/2012 at 13:09
Sarah - Sorry for your news. I'm a bit annoyed with RW, cus I only voted for Mel as a first timer, not as direct competion with yourself in the busy lifestyle cat. So they've put 2 first timers thru, and no one from the busy lifestyle cat, what was the point of the cats in the first place! I know RW have the final say, but they might as well of had just one big pot, and well all picked 5 from.
13/12/2012 at 13:18

To be honest if they are using MyAsics schedules they can do away with the busy lifestyle category...I mean even if you are really really busy you can surely find time to train twice a week which is all that's required

Sarah - stick around here and you'll find advice and support (whether you want it or not!), plus you'll get ideas from things other people are doing you will not have come across before.  It will give you a great chance to run your best marathon.

FRC - thanks for the tips.  What did your training in spring look like over the whole period and what would you change (if anything)?

13/12/2012 at 13:55
Sarah it's really not a bad thing to have not got through, there's always the super six and, failing that, just stick around here You're right, you can get under 3:30 without all the hassle.

Enjoy the rest of your day off Chick, I never worry about my pace in snow or ice just concentrate on not falling over!
13/12/2012 at 14:45

That's the spirit Sarah! How odd that they would ask people to vote in categories then change it once the voting has been done.  Same every year.

Sarah - Bad luck, I'm sure you will be fine if you hang around here, plenty of advice, support and piss taking here to keep you going.

DD - Henley should be a great event (just hope the council gets behind it). Good luck with your races over then next few days.

2Old - Henley is on 8th Sep are you going to join us?

FRC - Lovely new cat.

O4S - Crank the heating up while your away and enjoy the break.

Some great 400m sessions this week, I find the shorter reps much harder than 1km or 1 mile but that maybe about pace setting as much as anything.
