Bro/Ant/Oomps/2old/Free - Decent runs from you all.

Red -  Nice try getting rid of the lurgy with beer, but a docs appt over a week away that's worse than ours.

Calf still not right but improved, fingers crossed for a run tomorrow or Sat, had planned a 22  for Sunday.

Barry I second what Minni says, maybe back off the very long run. You can always re jiggle a cut back week to make sure you still get the miles in overall.

I can't recommend the gym on Valetine's night. There was a definite vibe of people looking around in mutual disappointment.

Despite to hours solid coughing last night, which appears to have caused me to pull some hitherto unknown muscles in my stomach and back , I ran twice today - 30 minutes each time but very slowly.  Coughing and sneezing now really hurts and the voice is 'interesting'.  I like to think of it as husky and sexy, but in keeping with Valentine's day I heard Mr O4S describe it to a neighbour as a strangulated croak

20 mile race on Sunday not looking good - can see febulous coming apart at the seams big time

Hope the others on the sick bench are faring rather better..................

O4S - think you coughed your way on those two runs. The rule of thumb seems to be if the cold is in the head ...run, if its on the chest rest. Do you do a good impression of Barry White?
Nice bit of protein tonight- steak....not horse. Probably should have carbo loaded for my LR tomorrow.

Sending lots of cold/flu get well wishes to you all. Red, I absolutely share your pain as that was me in Dec. I had a month of training in November, got sick in Dec, it took 5 weeks to shift so I was back at square one in Jan It totally sucks. I tried every cough medicine under the sun, I don't react well to antibiotics so only take them if it's seriously bad, so in the end I gave up and followed the Jagermeister approach as recommended already on this thread. I was a much happier bunny after that

Boring tech Q, how do you get emoticons to work on an iPad? The bar with all the 'edit' options isn't showing. I can do happy or sad faces by typing them out, but I've no idea how to type the rest.

AA, loving those reps!! One day *sigh*

Barry, take it really easy with your calf. Maybe cut right back this week as others have said, do enough to tick over, get another's physio appointment and see how it feels for next week? No harm to have one easy week now to get you physically back on track, then hit it hard next week.

Well, no running for me yesterday, I confined myself to running around instead on a mission to see as many Govt departments as I could - what a Valentine's day!! DD, I'm finally in The Club!!! (that's the work club, not THE club, I should point out. That might scupper my spring marathon somewhat and give OH a rather nasty surprise......)

Anyway, as DD will appreciate, the wheels of bureaucracy grind very slowly over here so i wasn't expecting much but I actually achieved a massive amount, it just took an entire day. Got in absolutely shattered, just had time for a quick shower before heading out with OH and friends for dinner. Can't be doing with commercialised, enforced romance so decided to get pissed with friends instead! So I now face doing a speed session with a massive hangover *epic fail*. Hmm, character building can go take a running jump! I am hoping to do mile repeats as I liked the sound of Freemers session earlier in the week. Not confident of much, but I will give it a go!

SS: ah yes Dubai bureaucracy , to be fair it's better than it was 14 years ago when I landed on these shores BUT they still have a habit of changing the rules just when you think you've sussed it.

AA: they were speedy reps.

O4S: sounds as if you need a rest but doubt that is going to happen.

Today is DD1 birthday he is hyper, snuck out for 12 miles at 8-15 pace in the midday sun, it's a lovely day.

Weeble- lol, nothing wrong with going to the gym on Valentine's day!

2Old- hope you have a good LSR today.

Despite a few bubbles too many I managed to drag myself to the track at 7am for 8 x 1000m @ 10km pace with 90s recovery.  That was incorporated into my commute to work so ended up doing 14m. All 1000s done in 4:05-4:11 so not as impressive as AA's but well within the target.

Now sitting at my desk trying to figure out what else I could possibly eat... A horse maybe?

AA- trying to keep going until Saturday then a recovery week(skiing).I hope to get my Febtatsics done there and my LR when I get home. Who needs kitchens anyway, think of the washing up you arent doing. A lot of resting going on on this thread this week..enjoy it

O4S: hate to say it but you may have fractured a rib. Happens to me occasionally when I get one of those really bad bouts of bronchitis. Hurts like hell. Rest up and forget about that 20 miler.

BarryB: like others said ... be careful. Perhaps wait till next week. It's still early days and all that.

15 miles d&d this morning. Av. pace 8:45. Oh, it was so cold again . Anyway, glad it's out of the way.
