I am running in the Great North Run on 1st October to raise funds for the Downs Syndrome Association (DSA).
I have chosen this particular charity after my son, Alex, was born with Downs Syndrome in May 2006. This brought me in touch with the Charity and the work that they do.
The DSA provides support and information for people with Downs Syndrome and their families, and they were invaluable to my partner and I in the difficult first few weeks after Alex was born.
They strive to improve knowledge of the condition, which affects 1 in every 1000 babies born in the UK, and they respond to over 29,000 telephone enquires every year. The Association is reliant on voluntary donations for over 90% of its income.
You can sponsor me on a DSA approved web page, which will accept donations by credit or debit card. The site uses VeriSign and is totally secure, and the URL is www.justgiving.com/craigt.
All donations, however small, will be very much appreciated.
Thanks for your time.
Craig.
