Hi Guys, I haven’t posted or even had much time to lurk since my holiday last month. Life has been hectic but I’ve still managed to fit in my planned runs and keep Jantastic up to date.

I’m pleased to announce that my wife has had a scan and she’s 12 weeks pregnant! All going well I’ll be a daddy in September a month before I turn 44. Gulp.

Life sucks today. Morning off to do LSR. Just stepping out the door and I wiped my MP3 player clean of everything. Then on to my run which was going to be a long one as I needed to pop into a shop in Reading. 13.5m run out, and of course the shop had been closed down since I was there 2 weeks ago, and then 13.5 back. The run itself was uneventful and took in miles of the A4 in all its glory.

Jools - do you have a Moti running shop in Bristol. The Reading one is the one I was headed for today.

We do have a Moti in Bristol; I'll try and remember to check if it's still trading when I walk to orchestra tonight!

AR - 27 miles along the A4 with no music Proper hardcore

Ran with the club last night for my set of 800s as follows;  2.54, 2.50. 2.53, 2.58, 2.55, 2.57.  Comfortably hard.

AR - oh dear. At least the run was uneventful. I've spent the entire morning driving to Newcastle. Also fairly uneventful but mindnumbingly dull. I hate the A1.

27mile round trip on the a4 as a LSR - just goes to show what a crazy bunch we all are.

Just got back from a 10 mile "tempo" down to Battersea Park and back 7:05 m/m av with HR 150av, felt controlled througout, with the middle 8miles at more like 6:50m/m, so pleased with that. It was  a little cold tho!, with 15 last night and a couple to the station this morning that makes 27 miles in less than 24 hours…

Now sitting with a bag of frozen peas on my ankle - it turns out its not my achilles that seems to be sore but the muscle immediately behind it - as I have discovered following some prodding and poking. Which I think is maybe not so bad.

I see that OPist got bail.

My wife recently changed jobs and I'm without car, so I am putting my running to good use with a new back to basics approach (Man needs stuff   -    stuff far away    -   man run). Admittedly it didn't work out today and I've seen plenty of the A4 to keep me going.    Think I will need to get the motorbike out of hibernation for my next jaunt out.

Interestingly my running started feeling lame around 20 miles, and physically I felt a bit ropey and considered walking. Within the space of 2 or 3 minutes I felt great and had a spring in my step and running form came back. A good lesson for me today.

New to the thead, have enjoyed reading it and found all the sessions motivating so ran 7x 1/2 mile last night all under 3 mins - thanks to you all as without reading this i would likely have done 5 miles slow!!

Having read some of the posts, are there lots of people who are more sub 3 than sub 3.15 as the times look amazing?!  Am i on for sub 3.15 with reasonable training of 40 miles a week, pb's are

5k - 18.20

5m - 32.10

13.1 1:28.50

26.2 - 3.30.30

ssc - welcome on here. Plenty of us here who are much closer to 3:15 than 3:00!!! Looking at your times, you're clearly pretty speedy over the shorter distances and your HM time would suggest that you're in with a shout if you can convert it so I guess the key is endurance.

40 miles a week is on the lighter side of things, but if the quality is there it's OK as long as you've got a number of long (20+) slow runs in there. What does a typical week's training look like?

Brilliant news Badbark!

You look like a certain sub 3.15 SSC. Judging by your PB's you have the speed on the shorter distances and even the sub 90 minute half marathon time. I'd say a bit of endurance is need to get that sub 3.15 time. What sort of mileage/long runs do you do in training?

Well done on the PB Jools, That is a big chunk off of 5 miles. You are in good shape at the moment, go easy on cramming those miles in,

Welcome SSC, lots of inspiration on this thread. As Lorenzo said you're fast on the short stuff, quicker 5k than me. What Marathon are you running?

11 miles for me this morning and 3 after work, bloody cold out there.
