FRC - thanks for tip I know using KM makes sense in 10k but never done it - would have to master the Garmin change settings thingy!!

Susan - naked running? Without Garmin I agree not sure about the "etc." bit. Oxford clearly not what it once was!!

AH - I know what you mean re. Xmas gifts...I would so like just running stuff but I get no running stuff at all.

Umbongo, you don't have to change settings from miles on the garmin. Leave if in miles. Just press manual lap when you see the km marker (assuming they have them)

Like me probably, you understand mile pace if you look at it occasionally, but just have to remember to stay under say a 4:50 km split.. Simples !

FOTD ??

It's funny thing Christmas pressies I always ask for ski stuff and never get it ;(( is anyone off skiing this winter?

Susan - definitely their loss!

I thought I'd fallen onto a different thread with all these stats and 7 min miles - I'm off to start a new one.......

oh WT... I love your runs, certainly inspire me to try an ultra or two. and remember, you have gone sub 4 this year.

We would miss you. Dont go !

(it was sub 7 min miles and sub 6 for intervals though )

FRC - the run is my club's monthly 10k handicap (always the same route) and start and finish at the not very legal red paint mark on the pavement. Ther are no markers other than at start and finish. I was only kidding re. changing settings. I usually just use miles but I am going through the "let the force guide me phase"

30/11/2012 at 10:51

...which means just run to the pace that my body says is right...not trying for PBs at moment as need to shed the weight. I should be about 12st 10lbs and am now about 14stone 7ibs

ah, shame. using km really works though (winks at Ikle), park runs and similar.

could still it on your watch, switch to metric.

I'm 6 stone down on my 2002 weight mentioned, so hover around 11st 7-8. Does make faster stuff a lot easier. maybe 30-60 seconds per mile per half-full stone I found.

Ran naked to work so no stats today!!! Boy it was cold.

30/11/2012 at 12:14

Not surprised you were cold if you were naked.

Susan - b*llocks.  Feel for you and Patch.  He's obviously brilliant.  Still, Oxbridge isn't everything - and he'll thrive somewhere else.  Maybe he'll end up at Bristol with Jack (not that he's had any offers yet).

I swam this am. Am now going to Do Some Work for Simon.  Unpaid of course -as usual - but I hope that one day I can say I contributed to the start of a multi million pound multinational corporate. Well, I can wish, can't I?

i am with you WT - what shall we call our new thread? anyone else going to come with us?

Left the garmin and mp3 at home= Naked artful hen...... Happy weekend all.

30/11/2012 at 15:52

Susan - I already have my own new forum but it is just for me. We could all join Martin on his Comrades forum or FRC on his 3:30 forum

30/11/2012 at 15:53

...or MCS on his "Naked running" forum (I made that one up)

30/11/2012 at 17:35
We could just come to yours monkey man.. What's it called ? Lone monkey thread?
30/11/2012 at 19:58
err, "Lone monkey love" thread did you say?

The 3:30 thread is a bit snoreee sometimes, they only talk about running, mostly.

Sorry to hear about Oxford Susan. Lots of other places though

Anyone racing this weekend? Definitely much colder here last 2 days, zero in the evening. Intervals tomorrow, then long run in north Wales Sunday. Good weekend all.

Hi all, long time no post, sorry

Hope all is well with everyone.

Back in blighty after a week long red sea cruise (as FB friends will know) with visits to Petra and Valley of the Kings - if you haven't been, go! If you have, you'll know what I mean.

Lots of walking, plus a couple of runs on the ship's gym treadmill. Still no races booked or even planned!

Happy December (tomorrow)

Welcome Didds nice to have a post without too many stats and sub 7 min miling
