I have had a rest day today, after 14 miles yestetday, legs feeling surprisingly good though!

It seems a bit strange not eating lots of random Xmas treats......

Still now sometimes I get the wobbles b4 a really good wave and jump off! Time is the answer I reckon...

Morning everyone and happy new year! Hope you all had a fab xmas.

I started the year on a good note by actually going for a run however it was very rubbish, no doubt affected by the alcohol intake the evening before My mileage for last year was just under 1500, which I'm pretty pleased with but think it will be hard going to beat that this year with work etc. I am ecstatically happy about having no marathon to train for and think I might just enjoy myself this year

My birthday today. No running and some January drinking ... 12 miles AH already you are ahead of me ! (Not that it's a competition ... ) happy new year all and WT you will be jealous of our marathons when they come, hoping to do Brighton my 12th and maybe Luton my 13th in 2013 .. In November .. Do come !

Martin, I have only entered bath half, and Chester marathon so far. Oh, and spilsby show 6 miler.
What about you, entered/doing any that I should know about that are fairly local?
02/01/2013 at 13:09
5 miles done, only 995 to go.......
02/01/2013 at 13:27

1473 miles I think for last year. Been out for a run at lunch so three on the board and a walk yesterday. Great racing FRC awesome to do a fast 10k then a sub four marathon the day after where was it?

02/01/2013 at 13:47

Did my 12 miles.  Susan - you did 11 on Christmas Eve! Wasn't easy but thought it a bit early in the game to be wibbling.  Took me about 3 miles to get going.

Have also signed up for a silly January press up challenge on Facebook.  1000 press ups in Jan is 32/33 a day.  Some mentalists are doing 1000s. There are these loonies posting casually that they've done 500 on day one .  I think they need to get a life. But I thought doing 30ish a day was dealable with.

Races for me so far this year:

club xc races
Romsey 5 - 27 Jan
Bramley 20  - 17th Feb (seems very very soon )
Spitfire 20 - 3 March
Finchley 20 - 17 March
Brighton Mara - 14 April

So no half marathons which will be wierd.

Also looking to join a sub 4hr group for chat and motivation. 5k pb in 2012 was 22:57, 10k 47:20 and half 1:49:23. Marathon pb was 4:23. Is a sub 4 doable? I find it difficult trying to maintain a steady 9 min miling pace after 15 miles.
02/01/2013 at 15:23
Hi tiddy, I would saythat you are well on course.... I did half marathon last march, first one, in 2.01, and did chesrer marathon in october in 3.57, so, if I can do it, any one can....
02/01/2013 at 15:25

Welcome Tiddy Simple answer YES. Its all about pace. There was someone on this thread a few years ago who was convinced getting "time in the bag" was the best way (Hope MR M is ok) he did get a sub 4 in the end but the HARD WAY. You will get loads of tips on here, So as a starter for 10 which marathon and how long will your 5 long runs add up to. ?

Scott- I may do the Grantham half but it would only be a training run. (cant remember the date but March) other than that everything else is a fair dstance away.

AH 3 x 20 milers VERY good, This time you will get it.

Susan Happy Birthday
