Sounds good Scott, aiming for 1:45 if I remember correctly?

After recovery & recent niggles post ultra, first speed session tonight in 4-5 weeks apart from races. No lift back off my Missus since she was busy, so dropped off a little away from club for warm up then gave fartlek a try with the top group. Panther legs still there. Phew. Then cool down jog back home.
Miscalculated though, ended up doing 1.5m to club, 6.5m fartlek, then 4 miles back, touch under 12 miles.

Oh, sensible decision, not 100% happy with new Saucony Ride 5 (90 quid ) after doing 700-800 miles in 3s all last year, even 15 miles of the ultra. Sore ITB and knees with the change in drop on the 5 maybe?. Found the Ride 3s for ??25 so bought 2 pairs. They feel just lovely, like a favourite pair of slippers. Bliss

Chilly out there 8pm, freezing fog along the seafront, cold snap next few days for everyone? Wrap up if running at night. Night.

Yes, frc, looking to do sub 1.45! 16 minutes quicker than last year and a 10 minute PB, should be doable though...

morning all

oh man I had one of those runs this morning, 10 miles d&d, but it was hard. Out with a  mate tonight so it had to be done..

thats great when you find a lovely comfy shoe frc and especially at a good price like that!

I would prefer cheval as long as it was cooked and it said so on the tin.
20/02/2013 at 11:54
Well done Wabo. I'm off home now. Several pounds heavier I'm sure...

FRC - the 5s were perhaps a touch too much too soon, but perhaps if you wear them every now and again your legs will get used to them and you won't have wasted the money on them.  As you know it's good for feet not to always land in the same way in the same shoe.

Good job, Wabo, on the 10. Just one of those crap  ones, eh? But they're the ones that make you stronger!

Tutu's baby is overdue - or was when she last posted on FB.  I wonder if babe has arrived yet?

And - I hardly dare admit it... I think my brain has blocked out any excitement because I still feel I shouldn't be doing it because we're broke.... but I'm going to Lanzarote next week!   On the training camp that Tutu, Jovi and I did.

I'm going to be on Purple Tri Lady's sofa so am not paying top dollar but of course the flights are more expensive than they would have been if I'd just booked at the normal time.   What a false economy that was...

Will do lots of swimming in the freezing cold pool and of course, some running. I won't be doing two sessions a day lke the rest of them, though. I will prob just do three or four runs.

Wow hen sounds fun!  I think you are right about tutu's bubba. That's interesting about shoes hen, I wear 3 different types to be honest and often wonder if it's ok, but don't seem to be getting any problems so it must be!

See Wabo, you're a genius and you didn't even know it.

20/02/2013 at 14:52
Wabo definitely a genius. Sleek one at that too

Both are neutral shoes but 3 has maybe a bit more cushioning, and a 12 drop not 8. Weird though no problems with racing flats and other lower drop Sauconys.

2 friends with Brooks and New Balance exactly the same problem , their model updated and now causing problems.

Yes was going to use the Saucony Ride 5 occasionally. 6 is almost out after less than 6 months. Hufff.

Enjoy the camp AH.

Susan appears to have stolen Ikle's TOTP super power.

Ikle, you will be fine.
Oh, hadn't posted but Ikle is on our team for Thunder Run in July.
I want to see a DtF / Ikle race !
Or alternatively we just meet over beer/ tea and cake.

Wabo you are running great at the moment. Must be enjoying the difference, things easier? Is that 34-35 miles in 5 days? Phew.

Martin, good luck with Swansea, Saturday or Sunday for the ultra ?

Speed strength last night was tough, first time in 4 weeks... Lots of good stretching and exercises though, so always feel better after it. Doing Romanian Dead lifts last night, bit weaker on my left leg at moment so something to work on balance wise. Glute bridges too. Always work on any weakness someone said I think ?

Tempo run tonight for me, want to really hit some speed with club pals, 15k ish pace, so well under MP.

I'd love to do the Budapest mara with you all.   It's usually on J's bday w/e but now that he's 18, will be at uni etc, that doesn't matter.  Actually this year Chester mara is on 6 Oct and my sister's doing it.  Big brave step for her so I will be there to support. Anyone else doing it?

Just done 11 miles with 10 at MP.  Always a bit nerve wracking, this run, because it's the first at MP in the programme and it always seems tooooo hard.  It shouldnt' be soo hard, but is. Anyway, managed it. Wasn't comfy or easy but it's done.

Still can't quite believe Lanza.  I almost feel guilty so can't quite let myself enjoy the excitement. Feels a bit like eating heallthily for weeks then bingeing on cake.  But I think the break, sun etc will do me the world of good.
