Congratulations ACoops - that's a great time for your first marathon - now you have to post your race report!

Susan - fantastic - another consistently run marathon - well done. Hope you got the 7:05!

Any news on Ickle?

Well done Susan, I was thinking of you yesterday whan the sun came bursting through in London and Temperatures went up to 18/19 degrees. Goog solid result for you.

Well done to Acoops too.

Sorry not to have been posting recently. Running for me has been very sporadic and my last consultation was inconclusive and I'm going to have another MRI scan.

Had terrible news on Saturday. I've been worried about a friend for a couple of weeks. Rang 999 and got the police to break-in. They found him dead. No obvious cause or timescale so there will be a post-mortem. He was very overwieght and didn't look after himself so it was probably a stroke or heart-attack. I am going into the house with his brother this afternoon to see what needs doing. Can't say I'm looking forward to it.

Howard, how awful, I can"t begin to imagine what it must be like. Sorry to hear your still suffering injuries and hope the scan shows up something that can be fixed.

Susan well done. Some good positive thinking there, very solid

Howard, sad news. So sorry to hear that. With the guy yesterday and your friend puts everything in perspective.

Bless you, Howard. Good for you phoning the police. Your poor friend I'm so sorry. Yes I'm just being grumpy because of 4 hr 55 min marathon plus knee is Back. Hardly the magnificent triumph I was anticipating. But at least I finished. Race report to follow when I'm sufficiently chipper...

Just seen the news about Boston. How awful and how traumatic for all those running and spectating.

16/04/2013 at 06:56
Terrible, I hope they get those responsible. Expect extra securoty at VLM on Sunday.

Came on give IB a lift but feel pretty angry / cut up / worried about the bombs.

Howard - sorry to hear about your friend - that's really tough.

IB - we all have bad runs when we thought everything was going to go well. I'm sure you'll bounce back.

How are all our Brightoners today?  Brings Boston's events into sharp focus, eh?

We're wondering whether/how to mark it at training tonight.  Any ideas how clubs coudl do it?

I thought it might be good to wear something American. Bruce Fordyce is wearing his Boston 2012 finishers T shirt all day in solidarity.

16/04/2013 at 09:54
Good idea AH.

I hope there will be lots of tributes at VLM on Sunday.
16/04/2013 at 10:43

Minutes silence? Not sure. I know a few friends are going to wear their club tops whilst running tonight as a sign of respect.

I'm really not sure about Sunday now, was very up mentally and now very down, last nights events were a real shock to me.. unimaginable for those involved, family, friends, some terrible injuries. Running seems all a bit pointless now.

Doesn't seem mentioned much but they raided somewhere last night and someone in questioning already. Plus more devices were de-activated, 3-5 more could've gone off.

FRC, you have to pick yourself up and run on Sunday for the people of BostonM don't let the people who did this win!
