Bartholomew I was just about to say the same thing about carb loading. By eating well in the few days leading up to the race you're carb loading by default because you're not using it up by running/training. Also, the glycogen stores in the liver/muscles aren't that big (so don't take THAT much to fill up). If they were huge no one would run out of juice at 18/20 miles.
There's also a lot of water storage associated with fat storage (which would be the result of too much carb loading) and all that extra fat and water would just make you feel fat and sluggish.
Just eat wel, stay off your feet and get some sleep!
cheers hen good advice
sorry and Bartholomew of course!
Good Luck on Sunday all you Runners iam well envious, not Done a Marathon since Dublin 2010, but iave entered Brighton for next year so need to up my game over the coming months.
Good luck everyone - have just done my long run so I can sit on t' sofa and cheer with my mouth open
Wabo, what number are you again? I'll be painting my flat during the marathon. Suddenly my flat mate is moving out and I'm selling my flat! All systems go for wedding on Saturday, October 26th, 2013. Oh my goodness me!
Thank you for shout out for Didds junior Susan - it's Dan, will be running in obligatory green Macmillan short-sleeve T-shirt with 'DAN' on front, number 7069. Aiming for 4:10 but might be nearer 4:20/4:30.
I will be at Macmillan cheerpoint at mile 25/Embankment with OH - haven't spectated since 2009 so will be a bit strange tbh. Ran in 2007 & 2008, spectated in 2009, absentee in 2010 & 2011 then ran in 2012.
GOOD LUCK ALL!
Good luck VLMERS! Lovely day for it.
