Hey hey, thanks for the welcomes everyone!  Unfortunately,  I haven't run at all this week- horrible head cold and want to save it for my 10k on Monday.

Ikle, I've just done a nutrition course and you're right vit D is certainly something those of us living  so far away from sunshine could need to supplement.  I take it myself fairly regularly now - personally think my cold is down to not having taken it for a few days in the last couple of weeks!

Hope the cold gets better soon, Angela.

Fat foot is going down. Perhaps I was stung by something when I was cutting the grass. Doc had no ideas.

Susan - wasn't really saying anything about the actual time in your 10k - more that I know you were working hard and are fundamentally faster than me. If you're doing 53 mins at the mo (or whatever it was) gawd only knows what I'd do. Honest guv.

Fingers crossed for the leg, Martin. Sub 10. Wow - that would be huge.

Ikle, glad you're super.

C has just finished her ASs.  Gave her the book Susan. Thanks x

legs are starting to feel normal again after the weekend.

lo65 great running to finish first. my dad was the first vet over 70 . was getting a bit worried in the last couple of miles as i knew he would be catching me.

awesome Quinn!  especially about your dad - really hope i can still run at 70 .. though as hinted at earlier doing a 10km in 53 mins was incredibly hard .. i was running very fast it felt like..  AH I am sure your marathon training would stand you in good stead you trained much harder than me and if your knee held up I am sure you would be quicker!!

Well done that Dad!

Have not run apart from half a mile with the beginners - one lady had a knee problem so I fell back and kept her company.

Have signed up for another MK enigma jobbie in August, should not be left alone with FB...

At the moment feel like I am providing much needed thread balance as FRC is reducing the average times to inappropriate levels - however my 2 x 5h efforts have restored harmony

Second on the MT podium - hee - pipped another 4:58 lady into 3rd like lorries overtaking on the Stokenchurch Gap!

AH has the knee settled a little for now?

Fido or Martin do you know any handy marathons around late November time?

I don't like the email notifications. There are too many of them and they clog up my email. So there.

and a hi to angela!!

Hi Quinns Dad I remember seeing him. They did not have a category for female over 65 or FV70 .However, the men did 65 and 70.

So I had to be in over FV60 even though I am 66.

Amazing LO65!!

welcome back WAbo .. we have missed you.

Ikle I think the doc is wrong - you are clearly ill.. wanting to run 50 miles.... oh my!!

24/05/2013 at 17:34

Congrats Quinn & quinns Dad. LO65 too for taking down the younger 60-65 age group runners too.

Susan, you flick between Slack Susan with photo and the other one at will, different PC, device? The photo one is much friendlier. My missus is still around an 1hr for 10k, sub 60 once and a few years younger than you. Lots of girls (less than 22/25 have joined with their mums) at club are all around same time too, 58-60+ minutes. You still got it.

AH too. Was talking to my club coach, he is also swimming the channel this summer but as a triathalon relay? Sounds like bike to dover, with sections, then 1hr channel each, then running. Some people really are nuts and then some. He hasn't done the acclimatisation you've done either.

Ikle, pretty healthy dream to Fido, Martin, and myself to do 50 miles. Not so sure after that Bath event with all the farm gates, most ultras are off road. Maybe do an LDWA event post Thunder Run?

Fido podium! top stuff.

Ho hum for me.. feel like a big lardy thing returning from hols, think I overdid trying to bounce back from this so tired myself out. Took an early rest day and much better run yesterday. was thinking of doing a marathon next weekend in Kent, but its quite far to get too, and trains expensive if missus can't drive, may just skip it. Ultras I think the plan for August/ Sept/ Oct// Nov at moment.

Went to the track. Am I mad? 4 x 600 m and 4 x 300m .. Bleurghhhh ....

did I tell you I saw my godson on Monday run 800m in 2 mins 19 ... Could not even do   600m in that ... Ha ha .. Did 1.24 or such like ... Nasty ...

24/05/2013 at 22:42

Of course I mean 2.24 .....

25/05/2013 at 08:11

I think my knees don't like distance plus speed, so maybe if I slowed it down a bit, kept to ten minute miles. Grass definitely helps too, but yes, not stiles...

I'm a poet.

Ps hooray its the holidays!

25/05/2013 at 08:32

Oooh I think you should do it Ikle! It'll be a good challenge.

My Panda run went well, I was accompanied by most of my team from work all dressed as animals (and one zoo keeper). It felt good to run a couple of people to their first ever 10k, I think they all enjoyed it..

I have a dilemma for your sensible running selves.. I am supposed to be doing my half iron man next weekend, but I've come down with some kind of throaty, coughy cold. At what point does racing endurance after a cold become dangerous?
