VLM 2011 Date - Spring Marathon

...Apparently the 2011 VLM will be on 17th April.

However, they have also said that the ballot will open on 26th April 2010 so maybe take that with a pinch of salt.

Wow that would be late. Last time it was run in May there were lots of problems with the heat! I guess with Easter being late next year it will give problems especially with the boat race etc to be factored in

details in this year's Virgin Marathon runners pack said 'general ballot' opening on 4th May...

people who entered and lost out by entering into both the ballots for 2009 AND 2010 get priorty ballot entry, i think from 19th April till 4th May...

so who knows!!!

There is no reason why it couldn't be the 17th, just seems strange that the date has been released on that website rather then a more 'official' site. Or at leasy waited until this years one was over.

Hope you're right about the priority ballot cjbessex - my OH is on an automatic for next year and I'm entering for the 5th time so it would be good!

I have read elsewhere that its Sunday May 1st.

The CHruCH website founder does have a link to LM. I think Andy Etchells use to be with
RW so that date might be true. Either way its April 17th or May 1st as Easter is inbetween.

But I would wait until LM announce the date so we can start our annual moaning.

If that's the case then you should book your hotel now before they can bump up the prices! As long as you do a refundable booking if anything goes Pete Tong then you lose nothing.

I have spoken to the London Marathon organisers and they said the following:

-Marathon 2011 is 17th April 2011

-if you entered the ballot 2009 and 2010 and failed to get in you will receive an email so that you can enter 2011 early. The link will work from 19th April -4th May

Re hotels, think they knew the marathon date before we did, the hotel room I have booked is already nearly twice the price of the normal sat night rate for the night before the marathon

Right unbook 29th, 30th April and 1st May. Definitely Sunday 17th April.
Infact its confirmed as Sunday 17th April. Get training folks.

According to Fetcheveryone website, it's the 24th April 2011!

Last year, the World Marathon Majors website had details earliest of future VLM dates.

No, I have concrete information from VLM its 17th April. How can it be on 24th April as
its Easter that weekend. Usual Fetcheveryone mistake.

so I'll be running on april 17th next weekend and easter is late you say 24th....that works out well for me...........
