Just received a call from a charity to confirm my Gold Bond application was successful!

Surprised at how quickly they've got back to me but absolutely chuffed to bits that I know this early.

Now for the training........

Shelter is a very well needed and worthwhile charity and from everything that I have read about the VLM then it's going to be a superb experience.

I am currently following a RW training schedule for 1/2 marathon at the moment and have found the structure of the training really helpful to keep motivated and measure how I am doing.

I got my place confirmed yesterday for The British Forces Foundation. Soooooo excited. First marathon and the London is a life long ambition of mine.

Will start training next weekend. Eeeek!!

Got my magazine through today to say I have got a place - VLM first timer and marathon first-timer too!  Have done a couple of halfs and long runs at the moment are around 7-10 miles so I think I can train in time!  Anyone else got VLM 2012 as their first marathon??

I, like you Bev, have only done a couple of half marathons and entered the London marathon thinking I would never get a place! Got my congratulations letter today, really pleased and a little nervous. Have always wanted to run it!

Only done one half in May and training has been haphazard since. I had a feeling I would get in and am a little scared that I am now!

Currently running about 15 to 20 miles a week but no further than 6 1/2 so time to introduce some longer runs and I think I am going to have to change my diet too as I want to be a few stone lighter and make sure I can fuel myself properly for training!

Also need to sort hotels and really dont know where to start as I dont know London!

first time in the London Marathon, 2nd marathon for me. Failed miserably in Stratford last year so hopefully will vastly improve next year.
Just booked hotel and paid for my entry so its all systems go go go!!!!!

radisson kenilworth, £190 inc breakfast, £0 cancellation fee which is handy if i get injured and have to pull out. Not too far from finish either. Not cheap i know but one of the cheapest i could find that didnt want minimum 2 nights

quick question guys. Is there any possibility of getting a shower after the race anywhere? I'll have checked out of the hotel and dont fancy subjecting my parents and mrs to the smell of me all the way home to derby.

No chance of a shower anywhere unless you have a hotel or friend nearby.

I'm a first timer too Have been training for two weeks already to a strict training plan! I have only ever run a 10k before so this is a huge jump. I never in a million years thought I would get a place. All my friends keep telling me about diet, but how do you know what to eat? e.g is it best to eat mega carbs from now till April? help please
