Hi there, first post so hello!

I am just looking at booking some events for later in the year and the main one is the sheffield half marathon I have run twice before. I'm also booking in a couple of off road obstacle 10k's - one of which is the X-Runner mad monk which falls on the weekend before the half marathon.

My question is would this be ok or even a good piece of training or is it a bad idea? Obviously training should taper off leading up to the half..

I am currently training for another two road 10k's in February & March before the Sheffield Endurer off road obstacle race in April then the X-runner & Half Marathon in May.

Thoughts?

personally i wouldnt do the obstacle race a week before the half.

but it depends on what you want out of the half.  if its a PB attempt and i defn wouldnt do the xrunner but if it more for a fast race for fitness then probably would do it.

As dean says.   If your highly driven to get every second off your HM time, then don't do it.

If you'll enjoy yourself doing them both, then why not?!

Sorry guys, cheers for the advice. Has decided to go with one in March - hopefully its not too cold! 10 k road race the wknd after should be much better than the half.
