Fitness Superstore

I bought a Life Fitness t5-5 off Fitness Superstore.  It kept shutting itself down (and throwing me off the back) at random intervals. They sent a nice chap to replace the circuit board. A few days later the same thing occurred.  The manufacturer took the treddie away and gave me a replacement one. The same random shut downs occurred.  I demanded my money back but Fitness Superstore convinced me to take a Vision Fitness HRT instead.  After two sessions this one stopped, threw me off, and error coded E5 which, apparently, means incline motor failure.

Now Fitness Superstore are refusing to refund my money because I've had it 8 weeks and they will only offer a warranty repair, despite my having used it only twice. 

Anyone else have problems with these people (registered company name is Bodypower Sports plc)?

Teknik I have a treadmill, rowing machine and exercise bike from them and have never had a problem with any of the machines so haven't needed to invoke any warranty.  Would be a bit peeved though like you in that the warranty on the new machine seems to have run from the time of your first purchase, might be worth asking a question of a solicitor (on here?) or Trading Standards.

Thanks JF50.  It is a difficult issue - I can claim a refund under the Sale of Goods Act so long I reject the item within a "reasonable time" - what's reasonable? 2 sessions, as soon as the fault is discovered, 8 weeks?

I've started a claim under the Consumer Credit Act, too - now wading through 20 forms from Barclaycard...

I would say it is most definitely un-fit for purpose so they have to give you a full refund.

I would contact Trading Standards but also threaten then with WatchDog and that you will post your disapproval on your Facebook and Twitter accounts (even if you don't have one) so everyone knows the service they provide.
