Can you please let me know what a 5k/10k runner and longer distance should do at the gym when not running.
When I am not running I just do general weights and core but has any one got any specific excercises which will help and to get my times down please!
If you go over to the US RW site there's a lot of very useful information there about xtraining.
Generally just core which would include squats, lunges, plank, crunches, and variations there of.
If you want to get your RUNNING times down.
Just a guess......maybe more running ??
core work will improve posture which will eventually improve running physique/stride etc which in turn will make your running more efficient but to get times down concentrate on training.
