Interval recovery runs

If I am doing interval work i.e. 6 reps of 600m at 10min mile pace with 4 min recovery runs.  What speed am I supposed to be doing the recovery runs?

I also use a HRM so the reps I would normally be doing between 85-90% of WHR.

While no expert I have always go at a very easy pace that will allow me to recover in time for the next interval...I've even walked a bit at the start of a recovery just to get my breathing back.

Recovery runs are just what it says on the tin.

Mykey sums it up in that you need to go at a pace that you FULLY recovered for the next Interval otherwise your not going to get the most out of any interval session that you do.

I would say that you should aim to be lowering your HR to around 60-75%WHR

If you switch your HR reading to %, its much easir to work with. Most have this settiing.

Recovery for me is 60/70%

Easy run 70/75%

Comfartable 75/80%

Hard 80/90%

Racing/speed work 90+

If the efforts are 600m and the recoveries are 4 mins, either the intention is that you go flat out during the reps and run v slowly to recover (which you certainly should do in 4 mins), or that the reps are not absolutely flat out and you keep going at a reasonably steady pace for the 4 mins.  Depends a bit what you are trying to achieve.  That sounds like a very short rep with a very long recovery unless you are an 800 metre runner or something.
