Huw - there is the Experian Robin Hood marathon in Nottingham on 16th September, so maybe you could try that. It's listed in the 'find a race' section - just search for Marathons in Nottinghamshire. I haven't ever run it myself so can't I tell you what it's like. How's the training going?

Berlin or New Forest?

Friends did Berlin - fast and flat, but was hot last year.

New Forest hilly - did the half last year, great fun.... and there's a free hog roast for runners at a nearby pub after, and ponies on your medal.....aaaaaaah!

Is this a wind-up? You run 31-50 miles a week, have been doing so for 5 years, you expect to be competitive in races and your second favourite race distance is a marathon. But apparently you don't know where or how to find one to run in and won't be capable of completing one for nine months plus...

Divot I thought the same too when I read huws profile, I just didn't have the guts to say it like you did!!
I wish I had enough races near me to have the opportunity if I so wanted, to race every week!!

Hey Huw

You can run or walk this stunning route taking in the beautiful countryside around Grafham Water. There are no time limits, full and half marathon options (£30/£20) so anyone can join in.

It's going to be a vibrant event with a Latin American twist of live music, ethical trading, photography, food, plus much more!

Yorkshireman is an easy marathon in september, you don't even need to train for it really. Just a pleasant stroll.......

I think you're 4 years too late.  Did Huw  ever run his marathon?
