Wow - your company's got a gym instructor? Cool!

Yeah - I recognise the name as an MKAC runner.

Have fun in Derby.

Well I work for Abbey, employs about 5000 people in Milton Keynes so its one of the perks I guess. We have a gym and showers/changing rooms which is very useful for lunchtime workouts/runs/cycling to work.

Yes it is lucky working for a company that appreciated the importance of its staff being healthy and I expect it has its rewards in terms of motivation and the like.

Its a shame more company's dont realise the benefits of a healthy workforce or provide significant gym membership subsidies though I believe our budgets for such activities are being constantly squeezed.

Carl - only just read this forum - wondered where you were on friday - as did Lucy, White Rabbit and Old Bones !! - you missed out on a great event. I did the bike in 35:09 and the run in 1:26:55 so well happy.

Put this in your diaries for next year everyone - good hilly course rather than the usual MK flat runs.

I'm guessing no-one's interested then! Well, if you are, the time's moved forward to 8:30.

SVT - you running a long and steady this Saturday?

Hi Dr G - how's married life?

I'm taking this Saturday off, as the in-laws have offered to have our daughter for the whole day so we're going out - normal service will be resumed the following week.

14.5 miles next time, then onwards and upwards!
21/04/2004 at 09:33
Couldn't be better - though Mrs Dr G has gone to work and left me with a list of things to do (is this going to be a regular thing??)

Gives me a chance to build up some mileage before weekend after next - Sat 1 May?

Hang on, that's Bank Holiday weekend isn't it? If so, I'm not around - sorry! Looks like it'll be Silverstone before we meet up again.
21/04/2004 at 14:15
there's a ten miler near Buckingham on the bank holiday.
21/04/2004 at 14:30
And a 10k at Silverstone on the Tuesday!
21/04/2004 at 22:31
Unfortunately I work till six in the evenings so can't make the Tuesday, but I will be in the 10 on the Monday. Doncha just love the thrill of standing on the start line waiting for the gun, adreneline pumping through the veins, the bowels slightly loose, and legs that feel like jelly? No? SurelyI can't be the only one.

To all MK/Bucks/Beds runners:

Not strictly training but, the inaugural monthly URWFRC (MK/Bucks/Beds area) curry evening is going to be held at the Jaipur in central MK on Wednesday 19 May, kick off 7pm.

Attendees so far:

Dr Galah
SVT

Please add your names if interested and I'll book a table on 18 May from the list.

Hope to see some of you there.

Entries now open on line via runnersworld.co.uk for the NSPCC MK Half, so signed myself up this morning.

This race also conveniently falls on a day in my Amsterdam Marathon training schedule that states '13m, slow, 1.48-1.54' so hopefully achievable, even if hot!

If anyone fancies a long run next weekend I shall be doing at least the SVT 11.75 round Willen Lake, Sat am, 8ish.

I shall also be doing a variation on the SVT route this Saturday (strangely enough) but not till 11 am - I'm babysitting whilst the wife gets her hair done! Hopefully back to a sensible time next week.

I'll have to check my schedule to see how far I've planned - I think it's 16.25 miles. Full details tomorrow (when I'm back at work and can get at my training schedule)!

M. - good news on the job front. Hope to see you on the 19th!
04/05/2004 at 09:20
Right, Saturday.

I'll be doing 16.25 miles, starting at 11:00, and passing the car park at 2.75, 7.25, 10 and 14.5 miles if you want to join me but for a shorter distance.
04/05/2004 at 10:25
I'll come for the curry! :)
04/05/2004 at 12:20
Curry definitely booked in the diary and approved with the wife!
