Sorry I couldn't come in the end. :( Realised that I'm not really up to eating out just yet.

Would definately be up for a drink (clubbing days are over though!).

lol you two old fuddy duddies...

Im up for anything so long as I can fit it into what is going to be a really hectic 10 weeks for me with training, wedding, stag weekend, holiday and races. Wednesday or Thursday are the only days I can work a gap into my training.

Dr G back in training! Virus and hayfever eat my shorts! Speed session with the running club last night and hills on Wednesday.

Anyone up for a long steady run on Sat morning? I'm thinking about 10 miles.

Been lucky this year had very few hayfever symptoms. Normally get it in last 2 weeks of May but this year no real signs yet (eyes a little sore on a couple of bike rides but nothing significant).

Steve (Nads), not been in touch anout a bike ride as have been a bit busy - maybe next Tuesday?
25/05/2004 at 10:52
Dr G - I can do Sat morning, but only from 11:00 (letting the wife have a proper lie-in while I look after the daughter).

If that's too late, no problem. If not, see you for the first 10 of my 19!

Carl - just let me know when suits. I should be OK for a couple of hours next Tuesday...I'd like to have a go at beating 34.7mph down that hill. If I pedal even more manicly than I did last week (whilst you were just free-wheeling!!) I might make 34.8 :-)
25/05/2004 at 12:23
34.7? Amateurs.

SVT (PB 49mph)

Good idea Nads, ill go full out and see how far past 40mph I can get? Thats the steepest hill I know near here.
25/05/2004 at 12:49
SVT - I was on a tricycle!! 49mph?! I'd have to be holding on to a car wing mirror (that was attached to a moving car, obviously) to have any chance of reaching that speed on my bike.
25/05/2004 at 13:02
It was about 10 years ago, when I was quite into cycling - top gear, pedalling like mad, head down, 22mm tyres. It was only the S-bend at the bottom of the hill (a well-known accident hotspot) that prevented the magic 50. But yes, I did only have two wheels.
25/05/2004 at 13:12
SVT - I meant a kid's tricycle...in an attempt to be amusing, but failing due to lack of description...or just failing full stop...

My bike is a MTB. I reckon I could have made 40mph but I didn't want to upset Carl by overtaking him ;-)
25/05/2004 at 15:32
Ah - was imagining a souped-up carbon-framed affair...

MTB - that's your problem. Get a proper bike.

(Aaaaargh - I'm turning into my dad! The man who bought me a road bike when all my friends had BMXs.)
25/05/2004 at 15:55
Your Dad did that to you too?! I was bought a racer from Green Shield, no less (A Hugh summat or other...) when all my mates were getting Choppers and Grifters (shows my age)
25/05/2004 at 16:01
My dad was heavily into cyclocross in his youth, so has never totally bought inot the idea of BMXs and MTBS - a racer can do it all, given the right tyres and a lot of lugging it over your shoulder!
25/05/2004 at 20:58
hads, that would be a Hugh Porter wouldn't it?

41.6 tonight, found a good hill lol - if id know the hill was coming im sure I could have cranked it up to 50+ mph.

Nads - just realised I cant do the ride next Tuesday as it MK Duathlon. Why dont you come along and give it a try, its about £15 I think.
26/05/2004 at 08:49
straitjacket - that's the one. I took it to my local "specialist" cycle shop a few days after I got it to hava dynamo (of all things) fitted and the guy there all but told me it was crap!

Carl - duathlon? Hmm. It might be too scary :-)
