Don't suppose I'll run today.
x train at the swimming pool with D2 who's 6, so much standing around being bored is in order.

I've resigned myself to saying goodbye to Hilly now. Her new training partner will without doubt lift her to new heights. And I bet that her running performance improves too.

Blisters - enjoy your day - they're only young once. Good luck for flm - come home strong.

What: longer run - not sure how far - will have to measure it - don't know how long it took me - stopped my watch at one point and forgot to restart it.
Decided to go on a route and roads that I haven't been on for years. Ran past this house where I used to run from occassionally and coming out on his mobility scooter was the 85 year old owner of the house. I stopped and chatted away to him - it was a funny feeling knowing that I used to run from there, as a kid with his kids all those years ago. He'd had his knees operated on but was doing well. I remembered Arthur Lydiard who had run and jumped fences into his older years who had both his knees replaced at the same time. It was a big mistake - the operations weren't really successful and his pride took a big hammering.
Anyway must measure how far the run was. I remember when I ran my first marathon my coach said - "a long weekend was good for getting back to back runs in". He suggest 20, 10, 20. Think I did 10, 20, 10 - miles that was. I remember lining up for my first marathon with heavy legs... won't say much more but Rory, I said those words too - "never again" - but my next one will be my 31st if I finish it!

Morning,

Clink, well raced yesterday.

What: Just under 50 minutes D&D of woodland trails
Why: Aerobic reconditioning

Last hard: Friday
Last rest: Sunday

Have a goodly holiday

Morning all

Well done Clink for yesterday

What: Race 2 in regional championship. A 12km mixed terrain race. Nowhere near fitness yet and coming off heavy week for me at least at moment, so target is simply to avoid the nightmare of 2 weeks ago when everything went wrong. Would like to be nudging close to top ten senior men if legs/heart hold out.

Morning

Nice too see you back SIT and good luck today:-)

Don't forget Boston Marathon today @4.30 Euro Sport.

Clink well done for your race yesterday

I am going to run again today as gym is closed:-)
so as I had already entered this 5k race I am going to just take it steady and get a PW aiming for even pace for all 3 laps.

Scooby
Glad things are going well for you long may it continue.

WP and Scoobs, glad to see you're both on the mend. Take it handy though.

Good luck today SiT.

Today: 5 miles (perhaps with some strides..)

Why: Recovery. And because I might feel like it!

Morning regulars!

Me: nothing probably - kids are lurgified

happy tapering all FLM-ers!

DF,

Good to see entry has gone in for Dublin. It's not quite as flat as Paris, but near enough. E-mail me if you want help with hotels etc. Will you do 18 week P+D schedule? Figure that program starts at end of June. Gives you a couple of months to concentrate on getting a sub-40 10k.
17/04/2006 at 08:55
Dutch Francis, the above was meant for the other D(avid) F(agan) in case you think I've gone mad.

What 7m Fartlek / 5m Easy
Why? Important races coming up

You heard here first, Jelena Prokopcuka and Ben Maiyo to win Boston :)

morning and thankyou for kind words after my race effort yesterday, very much appreciated. NZC i really REALLY wish i ran a bit like you though!!

i'm glad you said you're going to take the 5k steady poppy - just keep repeating it to yourself when you get there, have fun. thanks for the reminder on boston

and thanks micksta for letting me in on the HBO code, hope you all have a good race that day

excellent race from mary at rotters, hope she's fully recovered. sounds like your training is going well now simon too

just wondering if paulI's baby is in progress - no word from him for a day or 2?

just did a lovely 30 mins slow jog recovery with C/C who is now giving it some more zz's after his 4 legged efforts, loosened up nicely. my friend and her family are coping though still in shock, funeral won't be till next week as bank holidays push everything on. popping in to see them then to an easter egg trail with other friend and her 2 little ones, then on to hospital visit, so all go today. think i ran in the only sunshine of the day, gone really dull now and looks like a downpour due

what - 30 mins recovery, slowly
why - after race
17/04/2006 at 09:01
good luck for the multi terrain simon, don't think about the previous one that's in the past now

morning all

hope all you flmers are continuing to taper well.

just waiting for breakfast to settle before heading out for a long run - only 12 miles which doesn't sound like much but then i'm still 13 weeks out from the race. actually i was just having a laugh at the RW sub 4.30 schedule which recommends 7 mile run/walk for this weekend!

have a good day everyone

morning

all you flmers must be soooo excited now.

had an enormous fight to get out of bed this morning. just going out for 30 miles on the bike and not 60. having problems recovering from these 100 mile rides - just can't believe how tired i'm getting.

what: 30 miles
why: too late for 60 - get some speed in the legs with a swift 30 miler (i hope).

Morning

Trying to post more frequently now.

Have been working hard on core work the last couple of months, have notied a huge difference, and when started I was using the swiss ball, in a seated postion with back straight and legs out straight and seeing how long I could balance, well at first I could not manage 10 seconds without falling off - now I am able to balace for 5 mins + so a big improvement.

Slowly introducing longer runs with my orthotics, managed 11 miles yesterday, its the hams that seem to be the weakest part of this process, but I suppose it's the body's way of of adapting.

What: 6 miles + core + stretching

Why: The road back

Last Hard: All of it at the moment

Have a good day

Good morning, thank you for all the kind words.

Getting really excited for all the FLM people. Actually had a dream about it last night. Two of you did excellent times in that dream. Don't want to add to the pressure by telling though :o)

Clink - Well done on that 10K!

Simon - Nice to see you doing some good mileage without any problems.

Hollywood - MOL and Gobi finished Two Oceans, but I will let them share the details. Vomit did a good half marathon too. Gobi and Vomit will be having lunch at our house today, then off to the airport.

What: 8 miles at marathon pace
Why: It felt so good
Last hard: Saturday

HR is still too high, but I am sure it will settle soon.

Have a good one!
